The
Arena Football League and Delgado Community College will host the
Joey’s Hope Wheelchair Basketball game tonight (Wednesday, August 8) at 7
p.m. CT, the League Office announced today.
Participating
players from both teams in AVITAE ArenaBowl XXV will play against the
Rollin’ Hornets, a wheelchair basketball team based in New Orleans.
The
Rollin’ Hornets Athletic Association provides sports and recreational
programs and events for youth and adults with disabilities.
Admission
to the event is free to the public, but donations are encouraged. All
of the proceeds from the event will go to support Joey’s Hope for Hungry
Children.
Joey’s
Hope for Hungry Children was formed to honor the life of New Orleans
local USMC Sgt. Joseph A. Bovia who lost his life serving his country on
his third tour of duty in Afghanistan. With a passion for helping
children, his family and friends collect and purchase food items to send
home with hungry school children in New Orleans.
