IFL Announce Week 15 Players of the Week

The Indoor Football League (IFL) is proud to announce the Week 15 Vidswap.com Players of the Week.

Offensive Players of the Week: Jordan Jolly (WR, Texas Revolution)

Facing elimination from playoff contention, the Texas Revolution stepped up, outlasting the Green Bay Blizzard by the score of 60-56. Wide Receiver Jordan Jolly (6'2, 190, Navarro College) put on an offensive show, hauling in 10 catches for 162 yards and 3 touchdowns. All three of his scores came on plays of 25+ yards. In his rookie season, Jolly has proven to be an explosive weapon. To date, Jolly ranks 11th in the league in receiving yards (471), 6th in yards per reception (13.1) minimum of 20 catches, and tied for 10th in touchdown receptions (10). Next up for the Revs is their toughest test to date, a home matchup against the Colorado Ice.

Defensive Player of the Week: Lionell Singleton (DB, Tri-Cities Fever)

The Fever played the role of spoiler Saturday night, defeating the Colorado Ice 41-37, and in the process, delivery a big blow to Colorado's quest for home field advantage in the playoffs. After beginning the season 1-6, for the first time since joining the IFL the Fever will not participate in the postseason this year. Since the slow start, the Fever are the hottest team in the IFL, winning 4 of 5 games. Defensive Back Lionell Singleton (5'9, 180, Florida International) sealed the win for the Fever this week, intercepting a desperation Hail Mary attempt from Ice QB Willie Copeland as time expired. For the game, Singleton tallied 3 tackles, 2 interceptions (increasing his league leading total to 9), and 1 pass break up. A First Team All-IFL selection and runner-up to Defensive Player of the Year in 2012, Lionell Singleton is well on his way to collecting additional hardware this season. The Fever are idle this week with a bye.

Special Teams Player of the Week: Parker Douglass (K, Sioux Falls Storm)

Parker Douglass (5'10, 180, South Dakota State) becomes the 7th Storm player to earn Player of the Week honors in 2013 (tied with the Cedar Rapids Titans for most POW awards). In the IFL Game of the Week, the Storm defeated the Titans 30-24. The win avenged the embarrassing 52-18 loss to the Titans in Week 13 and propels the Storm to sole possession of first place in the United Conference. Struggling on offense, only gaining 109 yards in the game, the Storm turned to Douglass to put points on the board. Douglass converted 3 of 5 field goal attempts (distances of 18, 25, and 44) and was 3-3 on PAT's, good for a total of 12 points. For the season, Douglass has converted 61% of his field goal attempts (1st in the IFL, minimum of 10 made attempts), and ranks 2nd in the league in scoring with 124 points. The Storm are idle this week with a bye as well.

Week 14 IFL Players of the Week Announced

Offensive Players of the Week: Kayne Farquharson (WR, Nebraska Danger)

Kayne Farquharson (6’2, 190, Miami) becomes the 3rd Wide Receiver to earn Offensive Player of the Week in 2013 (Bryan Pray Week 2, Ryan Balentine Week 10).  In an 82-53 victory over the Wyoming Cavalry, the Danger receiver turned in the most impressive performance for a player at his position this season.  Farquharson hauled in 8 catches for 186 yards and 3 touchdowns.  For the season, he ranks at or near the top in nearly every receiving category; 2nd in receptions (61), 1st in receiving yards (866), and 3rd in receiving touchdowns (17).  A 2nd Team All-IFL selection in 2012, Farquharson is well on his way to collecting a 1st Team nod this year.

Defensive Player of the Week: Gabe Knapton (DL, Colorado Ice)

The Colorado Ice outlasted the Tri-Cities Fever 39-35 for an important Intense Conference victory.  Trailing 23-9 midway through the 3rd quarter, the Ice defense stiffened up in the nick of time to allow the offensive unit the opportunity to win the game.  DL Gabe Knapton (6’3, 260, Wyoming) led the defensive effort, tallying 12 tackles (3 for loss), and 2.5 sacks.  For the season, Knapton now leads all Defensive Linemen with 59 tackles, and is tied for 5th with 5.5 sacks.  The Ice and Fever will be back at it again this weekend in Kennewick, WA for the 3rd and final matchup between the teams in 2013.

Special Teams Player of the Week:  B.J. Hill (KR, Green Bay Blizzard)

For the second consecutive week, and third time this season, a member of the Green Bay Blizzard player has been named Special Teams Player of the Week.  Despite a 54-37 loss at the hands of the Cedar Rapids Titans, Kick Returner B.J. Hill turned in another outstanding performance for the Blizzard.  Hill, the most prolific returner in the IFL history, returned a kickoff 56 yards in the 3rd quarter for a score, upping his career kickoff return touchdown record to 13.  A jack of all trades, not only did Hill registered 5 returns for 153 yards, he contributed on offense and defense as well, tallying 5 catches for 41 yards and 2 tackles.  He leads the IFL in All-Purpose yards with 1241.  This weekend, Hill and the Blizzard head to Texas for a must win game against the Revolution.

Week IFL Players of the Week Announced

Offensive Players of the Week: Charles McCullum (QB, Cedar Rapids Titans)

The Cedar Rapids Titans earned the biggest win in franchise history with a dominating 52-18 victory over the two-time defending champion Sioux Falls Storm. QB Charles McCullum (6'3, 205, Stillman) led the way for the explosive Titan offense that used game breaking plays to put points on the board. McCullum finished the game completing 11 of 17 passes for 145 yards and 4 touchdowns. The mobile signal caller added 97 yards rushing on 13 carries and 2 scores. McCullum kept the #1 ranked Storm defense off balance all night, using the passing game as well as his scrambling ability to move the chains. Of McCullum's 6 touchdowns, two of the scores came from plays of over 40 yards (49 yard TD pass to Desmond Tardy, 46 yard TD run). Next up for the Titans is an important road matchup with the Green Bay Blizzard.

Defensive Player of the Week: P.J. South (DL, Chicago Slaughter)

P.J. South (6'5, 270, Central Missouri) becomes the third Chicago Slaughter defender to be named Defensive Player of the Week in 2013. A week after falling to the Texas Revolution in Allen, TX, the Slaughter avenged that loss with a 42-30 home victory over the Revs. The Slaughter defense stifled the Revs offensive unit, limiting the team to 133 yards of total offense. South wreaked havoc in the Revs backfield all game long, tallying 9 tackles (4 for loss) and 2.5 sacks. With the win, the Slaughter are the first team to 7 wins and sit in first place in the United Conference with a 7-4 record (1/2 game ahead of Cedar Rapids and Sioux Falls). In another important conference matchup this weekend, the Slaughter head to Sioux Falls to take on the Storm.

Co-Special Teams Player of the Week: Kenny Viser and Derek Earls (DB, LB Green Bay Blizzard)

In a season full of highly competitive games with dramatic finishes, Green Bay vs. Nebraska in Week 13 might rank at the top of the list. Trailing 47-40 late in the 4th quarter, the Blizzard drove down the field to tie the game at 47 with a Lucien Walker 1 yard TD plunge. The Danger returned the ensuing kickoff to the 15-yard line, setting up a 43 yard Joe Houston field goal attempt with seconds remaining in the game. If you remember back to Week 11, Joe Houston kicked the Danger to victory over the Colorado Ice as time expired, converting a 42-yard attempt for a 69-66 win. This time, the Blizzard did not give Houston a chance as DB Kenny Viser (6'0, 203, Idaho State) blew through the Danger line, diving to block to the attempt. LB Derek Earls (6'3, 235, Arizona) was "Johnny on the Spot" recovery the loose ball and raced into the end zone for the game-winning touchdown as time expired. The 53-47 victory is the 3rd in a row for Green Bay and their 4th out of their last 5 games, putting the Blizzard right back into the thick of things in the United Conference playoff race. The Blizzard host the Titans this weekend.

Week 12 IFL Players of the Week Announced

Offensive Players of the Week: Dante Warren (QB, Tri-Cities Fever)

For the first time this season, a member of the Tri-Cities Fever has earned Player of the Week honors. After beginning the season 1-5, Coach Adam Shackelford inserted Dante Warren (6'0, 200, South Dakota) as his starting quarterback. Since then, Warren has lead the Fever to a 2-1 record, including a 70-68 victory over the Cedar Rapids Titans on Saturday night. Warren passed for 125 yards and 3 touchdowns while adding 75 rushing yards and 4 scores on the ground. Warren has thrown 15 touchdown passes vs. only 2 interceptions and he currently ranks 4th in the IFL with a 103.1 Quarterback Rating (minimum 60 pass attempts). Additionally, Warren ranks 7th in rushing yards (334) and tied for 5th with 10 rushing touchdowns. After earning back-to-back wins for the first time all season, the future looks bright for Warren and the Fever. Tri-Cities will look to keep their late season playoff push rolling when they take on the Wyoming Cavalry this weekend.

Defensive Player of the Week: Tyler Knight (LB, Sioux Falls Storm)

Tyler Knight (6'0, 225, Mississippi Valley State) takes home Defensive Player of the Week for the 2nd time in 2013 (Week 1). In another extremely competitive game, the Storm avenged their early season loss to the Nebraska Danger with a 43-41 victory. Knight was all over the field, registering 16 tackles and 3 pass defenses. For the game, the Storm defensive unit forced 2 turnovers, scored a safety, and held the potent Danger offense scoreless in the 4th quarter. Knight is 2nd in the IFL in tackles this season, tallying 100 through 9 games. Next up for the Storm is a difficult road matchup against the Cedar Rapids Titans, who are 4-1 at home this season.

Special Teams Player of the Week: Philip Welch (K, Colorado Ice)

It did not take long for Philip Welch to make an impression in the IFL. Welch (6'3, 185, Wisconsin), playing in his first ever IFL game (signed by the Ice on Wednesday May 1st), is the Special Teams Player of the Week. Welch played a major role in Colorado's 51-41 victory over the Wyoming Cavalry. Wyoming's defense held Colorado to 4-11 third down conversions, and as a result, the Ice were forced to settle for field goal attempts throughout the night. Welch stepped up to the challenge, converting 5 of 7 attempts (distances of 52, 26, 40, 18, and 47) in addition to going 4-4 on PAT's for a total of 19 points. The Ice take their 6-3 record into a bye this week. They will return to action in Week 14 vs. the Fever.

IFL Week 11 Players of the Week Announced

Offensive Players of the Week: Cody Kirby (QB, Chicago Slaughter)

The Slaughter defended their home turf on Saturday night with a 61-56 victory over the Sioux Falls Storm. The win propelled the team back into first place in the United Conference standings. QB Cody Kirby (5'11, 215, Missouri State) has put together an impressive season, creeping his way into the IFL MVP race. Facing the #1 defense in the IFL, Kirby completed 28 of 35 passes for 257 yards and 4 touchdowns while also rushing for 61 yards on 15 carries and 2 scores. Kirby currently ranks 1st in the IFL with a 111.4 QB Rating (minimum 60 pass attempts) and has a 6:1 touchdown to interception ratio. This week, the Slaughter hit the road to take on the Texas Revolution.

Defensive Player of the Week: Elijah Fields (DB, Green Bay Blizzard)

The Green Bay Blizzard earned commanding a 74-25 victory over the Texas Revolution. After starting the season 1-5, the Blizzard have now won two in a row to get back into the thick of things in the United Conference playoff race. Defensive Back Elijah Fields (6'2, 215, Pittsburgh) led the Blizzard's dominating defensive effort against the Revolution, registering 13 tackles (1.5 for loss) and 2 interceptions. The Blizzard held the Revs to only 76 yards of total offense. Fields now ranks 4th in the IFL with 66 tackles, tied for 2nd with 2 forced fumbles, and tied for 3rd with 6 pass breakups. Green Bay takes their two game winning streak into a bye this weekend. The Blizzard will return to action on May 10th when they host the Nebraska Danger.

Special Teams Player of the Week: Joe Houston (K, Nebraska Danger)

In an "IFL Instant Classic" and the leading candidate for Game of the Year, the Nebraska Danger outlasted the Colorado Ice, 69-66. This matchup is quickly becoming one of the IFL's most intense rivalries. Trailing for the majority of the game, Colorado erased a 22-point deficit to tie the game at 66 with 24 seconds remaining in the 4th quarter. With the Danger returning the ensuing kickoff to midfield, QB Jameel Sewell looked to improve field position to set up a game winning field goal. However, the stingy Ice defense caused three straight incompletions, forcing a long 42-yard attempt. Kicker Joe Houston (5'6, 170, USC) answered the challenge, splitting the uprights as time expired, sealing the 3-point victory for the Danger. On the day, Houston converted 2 of 4 field goal attempts and 7 or 9 PAT's, good for 13 total points. The win has major implications in the race for the #1 seed in the Intense Conference. Not only did the Danger move a game up on the Ice in the standings, but they also take a 2-1 lead in the season series. The teams meet again in Colorado on June 7th. In the meantime, the Danger face another difficult challenge this weekend when they travel to Sioux Falls to take on the Storm.

Week 10 IFL Players of the Week Announced

Co-Offensive Players of the Week: Spencer Ohm and Ryan Balentine (QB, WR Green Bay Blizzard)

For the first time in 2013, a pair of teammates share Offensive Player of the Week honors. After undergoing a complete overhaul with the coaching staff, the Green Bay Blizzard rallied around new Head Coach Chad Baldwin and defeated the Tri-Cities Fever 66-54. In addition to turnover in the coaching staff, there is also a new signal caller for the Blizzard. In his first career start, QB Spencer Ohm (6'2, 215, Concordia) scorched the Fever defense, completing 19 of 27 passes for 275 yards and 7 touchdowns, adding 5 carries for 13 yards and 2 rushing touchdowns. Ohm's top target was WR Ryan Balentine (6'1, 180, Southern Miss). Balentine hauled in 11 catches for 170 yards and 3 touchdowns while also rushing for 17 yards and another score. Balentine leads the league in catches (43) and receiving yards (535). Up next for the Blizzard is this first of two matchups with the Texas Revolution.

Defensive Player of the Week: Pig Brown (LB, Nebraska Danger)

After scoring a league high 82 points last week against the Cedar Rapids Titans, the Nebraska Danger defense limited the Texas Revolution to 47 points on Saturday night. With a 62-47 victory, the Danger move back into a tie with the Colorado Ice atop the Intense Conference standings. Pig Brown (5'11, 212, Missouri) led the way for the Danger, registering 9 tackles (2 for loss), and 2 sacks. Trailing 20-14 at halftime, the Danger defense conceded only 7 points in the 3rd quarter, allowing their offense to open up a 41-27 lead heading into the final quarter. This weekend the Danger square off against the Ice in a rubber match. The back and forth battle between these two teams is destined to go down to the final week of the season. The winner of this weekend's game will once again take sole possession of the Intense Conference lead.

Special Teams Player of the Week: Bryan Pray (KR, Cedar Rapids Titans)

Following a 4-0 start, the Cedar Rapids Titans lost 3 in a row to United Conference foes. The Titans put an end to their losing streak with a dominating 62-28 victory over the Chicago Slaughter. The Titans jumped out to a 17-0 lead, but it was quickly narrowed to 17-14 after back to back touchdown drives by the Slaughter. In need of a big play, KR Bryan Pray (5'7, 168, Pittsburg State) returned the ensuing kickoff 51 yards for the touchdown. The kickoff return ignited 31 unanswered points for the Titans, providing a much needed spark for a team searching for their first win in over a month. The award marks Pray's second Player of the Week nod in 2013. He previously won Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in Week 2 against the Slaughter. The Titans get an extra week to celebrate the win as they have a bye in Week 11.

Week 9 IFL Players of the Week Announced

The Indoor Football League (IFL) is proud to announce the Week 9 Vidswap.com Players of the Week.

Offensive Player of the Week: Marcus Jackson (QB, Texas Revolution)

For the second time in three weeks, Marcus Jackson earns Offensive Player of the Week. Jackson (6'1, 215, TCU) led the Revolution offense to the highest scoring output in a single game thus far in 2013, defeating the Cedar Rapids Titans 82-72. Jackson completed 15 of 20 passes for 179 yards and 3 touchdowns, adding 11 rushes for 78 yards and 6 rushing scores. It was not only a prolific day for Jackson but also efficient, as he and the Revolution offense did not turn the ball over the entire game. The Revolution have now won 3 of their last 4 games to even their record to 3-3. The second half of the United Conference season will be exciting as four of the five teams are within 2 games of each other in the standings. Next up, the Revolution host the Nebraska Danger in a rematch of Week 8 in which the Danger squeaked out a 53-50 win.

Defensive Player of the Week: Greg Jackson (LB, Colorado Ice)

Greg Jackson becomes the second Colorado Ice player to earn weekly honors in 2013 (RB James Jones Week 2). Defense was the name of the game for the Ice in a 32-12 victory over the Nebraska Danger. Jackson (6'1, 218, Memphis) made his presence felt on Saturday night, tallying 10 tackles (1 for loss), 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery which he returned 31 yards for a touchdown. The turning point of the game occurred in the 3rd quarter with the teams tied 12-12 when Danger QB Jameel Sewell bobbled a shotgun snap. Jackson was in the right place at the right time to recover the fumble and sprint down the sideline for the defensive touchdown. With the victory, the Ice take sole possession of 1st place in the Intense Conference and revenge their only loss of the season, which came at the hands of the Danger in Week 4. In that game the Danger offense lit up the scoreboard for 73 points, a far cry from the 12 they scored on Saturday night. The Ice will travel to Sioux Falls to take on the Storm in Week 10.

Special Teams Player of the Week: Frankie Solomon Jr. (KR, Texas Revolution)

Similarly to teammate Marcus Jackson, for the second time in three weeks Frankie Solomon Jr. earns weekly honors. In Week 7, Solomon took home Defensive Player of the Week, this time around, he is recognized for his performance on Special Teams. Solomon (5'11, 185, New Mexico) dazzled the home fans, covering 168 yards on 7 kickoff returns, 2 of which he took all the way for touchdowns. Thus far in 2013, Solomon ranks 3rd in kickoff return yards (350) and 1st in return touchdowns (3). He continued his solid play on defense as well, registering 4 tackles and an interception, adding to his league leading 5 on the season. The Revolution will rely on their proven playmaker as they make a push for a playoff spot in the second half of the season.

Green Bay Blizzard Promote Chad Baldwin To Head Coach

Green Bay Blizzard Head Coach Robert Fuller was dismissed today by Blizzard Chief Operating Officer Art Clarkson. Defensive Coordinator Chad Baldwin was named Head Coach for the remainder of the 2013 season.

"In the first six games our performance has not been acceptable. If we don't make a move now it would be totally unacceptable," stated COO Art Clarkson. "We can make the playoffs but it will be a challenge and Chad Baldwin has accepted that challenge."

Clarkson added, "We play six of our last eight games in our division. We don't need help from other teams, but we need to do the job. This is Green Bay and we are expected to win."

Baldwin is in his second season with the Blizzard. In his first season as defensive coordinator the Blizzard finished best in the league in yards allowed per game with 206.6 and second in points allowed per game with 41.9.

Prior to joining the Blizzard, Baldwin was Director of Coaches and Scouts for the All-American Bowl games held throughout the United States. In addition, Baldwin was inducted into the Minor League News Hall of Fame for his accomplishments with the Central Minnesota Thunderbirds semi-pro football team. He is still the youngest coach at any level to be inducted into a hall of fame.

Robert Fuller was hired last season by the Blizzard and led the team to an 11-3 record and an appearance in the United Conference Championship game. In addition, he was also the recipient of the IFL Adam Pringle award for the last two seasons which recognizes community service.

Fuller started the 2013 season 1-5 and leaves Green Bay with a regular season record of 12-8.

The Green Bay Blizzard return home to play the Tri-Cities Fever on Saturday April 20. Kickoff is at 7 P.M. The game is Ahman Green Bobblehead Night where the first 1,500 youth age 14 and under will receive a free Ahman Green Bobblehead.

Week 8 IFL Players of the Week Announced

Offensive Player of the Week: Tavron Harrison (RB, Sioux Falls Storm)

Tavron Harrison (5'11, 200, Southern Miss) becomes the third Storm player, and first IFL Running Back, to take home Offensive Player of the Week honors in 2013. Sioux Falls jumped out to a 31-0 first half lead over the Green Bay Blizzard on Sunday, then cruised in the second half for the 48-29 victory. Harrison led a dominant rushing attack, punishing Blizzard defenders with 17 carries for 118 yards and 2 touchdowns. The highlight of the game occurred when he sprinted 45 yards for a touchdown in the 2nd quarter. It is the longest touchdown rush in the IFL so far this season. Harrison ranks 5th in the IFL with 203 rushing yards and tied for 1st with 7 rushing touchdowns. The Storm travel to Tri-Cities this weekend for a rematch of the last two United Conference Championship games. Until QB Terrance Bryant fully acclimates himself into the Storm offense, count on Sioux Falls to rely on Harrison and the ground game.

Defensive Player of the Week: Will Billingsley (DB, Chicago Slaughter)

The Chicago Slaughter extended their win streak to 4 with a 50-45 victory over the Cedar Rapids Titans. The win propels the Slaughter into a tie with the Titans for the top spot in the United Conference standings. Will Billingsley (5'11, 205, North Carolina A&T) has played a big part in helping to turn around the Slaughter season. Billingsley tallied 4 tackles and 2 interceptions in win over the Titans. The Titans led 37-18 and were driving late in the 2nd quarter. Billingsley intercepted a Charles McCullum pass and raced 49 yards down the field for a touchdown to narrow the Titan lead to 37-25 at the end of the 1st half. The Slaughter defense only allowed 8 points the remainder of the game. Next up for the Slaughter is a road contest against the Wyoming Cavalry who are fresh off their first win of the season.

Special Teams Player of the Week: Paul Vassallo (LB, Wyoming Cavalry)

The Wyoming Cavalry earned their first win in 2013 with a 36-34 victory over the Tri-Cities Fever. Paul Vassallo (6'2, 230, Arizona) played the part of hero for the Cavalry and in the process earns Special Teams Player of the Week. In the final seconds of the game, with the Cavalry clinging to a 2-point lead, the Fever lined up for a game winning field goal attempt. Vassallo drove through the Fever line and blocked the attempt, sealing the Cavalry's first win of the season. Vassallo also contributed on defense registering 7 tackles and 1 pass break up. The Cavalry hope to build on the momentum of the victory when the red-hot Chicago Slaughter come to town this weekend.

Week 7 IFL Players of the Week Announced

Offensive Player of the Week: Marcus Jackson (QB, Texas Revolution)

For the second consecutive week the Revolution defeated the Tri-Cities Fever. In Week 7, Texas took the long road trip to Kennewick, WA and emerged with a 54-43 victory. Marcus Jackson (6'1, 215, TCU) led the Revolution's offense to their best showing thus far in 2013. Jackson completed 16 of 28 passes for 215 yards and 4 touchdowns, adding 6 rushes for 22 yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground. The Revolution are on the road again this weekend for a tough matchup with the Nebraska Danger.

Defensive Player of the Week: Frankie Solomon Jr. (DB, Texas Revolution)

The Revolution sweep both Offensive and Defensive honors this week as Frankie Solomon Jr. takes home Defensive Player of the Week. Solomon (5'11, 185, New Mexico), selected First Team All-IFL in 2012, was instrumental in the Revolution's victory over the Fever. He registered 10 tackles (2 for loss), 1 forced fumble, 1 pass break up, and 2 interceptions. The Revolution defense put on a dominating performance, allowing only 75 yards of total offense (60 passing, 15 rushing). The unit allows a league best 119 passing yards per game to opponents. Solomon has been a big reason for their success as he is currently tied for the IFL lead with 4 interceptions on the season.

Special Teams Player of the Week: Jordan Wettstein (K, Green Bay Blizzard)

Jordan Wettstein (5'11, 185, Minnesota) is the first Kicker to earn Special Teams Player of the Week in 2013. The Blizzard finally got in the win column with a thrilling 41-38 double overtime victory over the previously unbeaten Cedar Rapids Titans. Wettstein was the hero for the Blizzard on Saturday night. With the Titans leading 32-29 with 2.9 seconds remaining in regulation, Wettstein converted a 39-yard game tying field goal to force OT. Week 6 IFL Players of the Week Announced

The Indoor Football League announced the Week 6 Vidswap.com Players of the Week. Two former Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) stars and a Big 12 standout performer takes home Week 6 honors.

Offensive Player of the Week: Jameel Sewell (QB, Nebraska Danger)

Sewell (6'3, 220, Virginia), previously honored for his performance in Week 4, is our first repeat Offensive Player of the Week winner in 2013. Quickly becoming a habit, Sewell turned in another outstanding performance in a 62-35 victory over the Wyoming Cavalry. The dual-threat QB completed 16 of 25 passes for 237 yards and 7 touchdowns, in addition to 9 carries for 14 yards and 2 rushing touchdowns. Sewell is the current IFL leader in nearly all QB statistics including, QB Rating (111.7), Yards (712), Touchdowns (16), and fewest Interceptions (1). The Danger head into a bye this week with an Intense Conference leading 3-1 record.

Defensive Player of the Week: A.J. Nicholson (LB, Texas Revolution)

It was a week of firsts for the Texas Revolution. The Revolution earned their first regular season IFL victory with a 40-37 win over the Tri-Cities Fever, and in the process, the first Revolution player has earned Player of the Week honors. A.J. Nicholson (6'2, 240, Florida State) filled up the stat sheet against the Fever tallying 12 tackles (2 for loss), 1 interception, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery, and 1 pass break up. Nicholson and the Revolution defense held the Fever to just 27 rushing yards while forcing 5 turnovers and limiting the Fever to 1 of 10 on third down conversions. The Revolution cannot celebrate for too long as they will be back in action on Friday night in a rematch with the Fever, this time in Kennewick, WA.

Special Teams Player of the Week: Yemi Babalola (DL, Chicago Slaughter)

Yemi Babalola (6'4, 280, Texas A&M) is the 3rd Slaughter player to earn weekly honors this season, the 2nd on special teams. Babalola showed off his athletic ability in a 27-14 victory over the Green Bay Blizzard. Midway through the 3rd quarter the Blizzard lined up for a short 28-yard FG attempt to cut the Slaughter lead to 8 points. In an amazing individual effort, Babalola rushed through the Blizzard line, blocking the attempt, then outran several Blizzard players down the field to recover the loose ball in the end zone for the touchdown. Instead of narrowing the margin, the Slaughter extending their lead to 24-6, a 10 point swing. After a slow start, Chicago has won 3 straight games to move to 3-2. Two of those victories have come at the expense of the Blizzard.

Week 5 IFL Players of the Week Announced

Offensive Player of the Week: Dwight Dasher (QB, Sioux Falls Storm)

After suffering the franchise's first loss in nearly two years, the Storm were itching to get back on the field after the bye in Week 4. In their first home game since the 2012 United Bowl Championship, the Storm got back to their winning ways with a 67-7 victory over the Wyoming Cavalry. With starting QB Martevious Young out with an injury, the Storm turned to Dwight Dasher (5'11, 220, Middle Tennessee State). Dasher had a record setting day for the Storm completing 14 of 22 passes for 164 yards and 4 touchdowns, adding 138 rushing yards on 16 attempts and 2 touchdowns. The 138 rushing yards set an IFL record for a quarterback in a regular season game and is the 5th highest total overall for any player. Coming up in Week 6, Dasher and the Storm travel to Colorado to take on the Ice in what has the potential to be the game of the week.

Defensive Player of the Week: Ameer Ismail (LB, Chicago Slaughter)

The reigning IFL Defensive Player of the Year has picked up right where he left off last season. Ismail (6'2, 240, Western Michigan), the IFL record holder for tackles in a season (162), is on pace to surpass that number this season with 48 tackles through 4 games. In a 51-26 victory over the Texas Revolution, Ismail registered 17 tackles (11 solo, 6 assisted), 1 for loss, and an interception that he returned 31 yards for a touchdown. After a 0-2 start the Slaughter have won back-to-back games to pull to .500. Next up for Chicago is the second of four matchups with conference rival Green Bay. The Slaughter got the best of the Blizzard, 50-41, in Week 3.

Special Teams Player of the Week: Cory Johnsen (DL, Sioux Falls Storm)

Cory Johnsen (6'0, 315, Saint Cloud State) pulled off the trifecta on Sunday. With the Wyoming Cavalry lined up for a long FG attempt in the 2nd quarter, the Storm's defensive tackle blocked the attempt, recovered the loose ball, and scored the special teams touchdown for Sioux Falls. The IFL veteran has been a main stay on the Storm's defensive line as well. Against Wyoming he tallied 2 tackles (.5 for loss) and recovered a fumble, anchoring a defensive unit that yielded only 15 rushing yards in the game. When teams as evenly matched as the Storm and Colorado Ice meet this weekend, special teams could very well be the determining factor in the outcome of the game.

Offensive Player of the Week:  Jameel Sewell (QB, Nebraska Danger)
The Danger offense pitched as close to a perfect game as possible against the Colorado Ice in Week 4.  The Danger scored on 11 of their 12 possessions, paving the way for a 73-50 victory. The lone exception to scoring drives came on Nebraska’s final offensive possession, which featured the Danger “taking a knee” to run out the remaining time on the clock. Sewell (6’3, 220, Virginia) dominated the game, completing 18 of 25 passes for 226 yards and 6 touchdowns. He added 7 rushes for 47 yards and touchdown on the ground. Sewell leads the IFL in quarterback rating at 126.4. The Danger are off to a 2-0 start against tough competition (Ice and Sioux Falls Storm). A win at Tri-Cities on Friday night could make the Danger the team to beat this season.
Defensive Player of the Week:  Xzavie Jackson (DL, Cedar Rapids Titans)
For only the third time in IFL history, and the first from the defensive side of the ball, a player has earned back-to-back player of the week awards. Players previously accomplishing the feat include former Green Bay Blizzard and current Cedar Rapids Titans RB Laron Council (Week 16&17, 2012) and Green Bay Blizzard KR B.J. Hill (Week 5&6, 2011). Jackson (6’3, 295, Missouri) and the rest of the Cedar Rapids Titans proved too much to handle in a 54-12 victory over the Wyoming Cavalry in Week 4. Jackson registered 3 tackles, all for loss, 3 sacks, and broke up one pass against the Cavalry. Jackson and his defensive line mates applied pressure to QB Barney O’Donnell all game, forcing an intentional grounding for a safety as well as an interception that was returned for a touchdown. At 4-0, the Titans head into a bye week already matching its win total from a season ago.
Special Teams Player of the Week:  Randy Bell (KR, Nebraska Danger)
For the second consecutive week a Nebraska Danger kick returner takes home Special Teams honors. Bell (5’10, 230, Carson-Newman) gave the Colorado Ice headaches on Saturday night, accounting for 225 total yards. Bell returned 6 kickoffs for 176 yards, including a 54-yard touchdown return in the 2nd quarter. Bell also contributed on offense rushing for 33 yards on 3 carries, including a 26-yard touchdown scamper, in addition to catching one pass for 16 yards. The Danger will need to be sharp in all three phases of the game against a very talented Tri-Cities team on Friday night.

With a full slate of games, Week 3 will go down as one of the most exciting weekends of IFL football in recent memory. Three of the four contests were decided in the final minutes of play. Week 3 also featured the end of the Sioux Falls Storm's historic 21-game winning streak.
Offensive Player of the Week: James Jones (RB, Colorado Ice)
It's a safe bet that every time the Colorado Ice and Tri-Cities Fever play, it goes down to the wire. Five of their seven matchups have been decided by six points or less. Friday night was no different as James Jones (5'5, 175, Northern Colorado) scored the game winning touchdown with 14 seconds remaining in the 4th quarter to the give the Ice a 42-38 victory over the Fever. What Jones lacks in size, he makes up for with heart and quickness. Jones shouldered the load for the Ice, tallying 17 carries for 65 yards and catching 2 passes for 35 yards while reaching the end zone twice. It seems as though this IFL veteran will be the focal point of the Ice offense in 2013.
Defensive Player of the Week: Xzavie Jackson (DL, Cedar Rapids Titans)
Jackson (6'3, 295, Missouri), a 2011 1st Team All-IFL selection, settled for a 2nd Team All-IFL bid in 2012. If Friday night's performance is any indication, Xzavie Jackson is on the fast track to reclaiming 1st Team status. Jackson and the rest of the Titan's defensive line dominated the Texas Revolution, paving the way for a 60-21 Titans victory. Jackson accounted for 7 tackles (5 solo, 2 assisted), 5.5 for loss, and 4 sacks. Jackson leads the IFL with 6 sacks, already surpassing his total for the entire 2012 season (4). The Titans have jumped out to a 3-0 record in 2013. With a win this weekend against the Wyoming Cavalry, the Titans will match their win total of a season ago.
Special Teams Player of the Week: Marcus Barnett (KR, Nebraska Danger)
The Nebraska Danger pulled off a huge upset, knocking off the two-time defending United Bowl Champion Sioux Falls Storm, 30-21. The loss was the Storm's first since 6/11/2011 and snapped a 21-game winning streak. Kick Returner Marcus Barnett (6'2, 185, Cincinnati) started the party early on Saturday, returning the opening kickoff 58 yards for a touchdown. A defensive battle throughout, Barnett's return TD was the lone touchdown scored in the game until midway through the 3rd quarter. Barnett finished the game with 2 returns for 74 yards, contributing on offense as well with 3 catches for 31 yards. With the Colorado Ice coming to town this weekend, there is not much time for the Danger to celebrate the big win.

Week 2 IFL Players of the Week Announced

The Indoor Football League (IFL) is proud to announce the Week 2 Vidswap.com Players of the Week. In the only regular season game on the schedule in Week 2, the Cedar Rapids Titans improved their record to 2-0 with a hard fought 58-52 victory over the Chicago Slaughter, who fell to 0-2.
Offensive Player of the Week: Bryan Pray (WR, Cedar Rapids Titans)
If Bryan Pray had his way, Cedar Rapids would play Chicago every week. Pray (5'7, 170, Pittsburg State) had another monster game against the Slaughter, hauling in 4 passes for 71 yards and 3 touchdowns. One of the touchdowns came on a 40 yard bomb from QB Colton Hansen in the 3rd quarter. After the Titans jumped out to an early lead, the Slaughter slowly began to fight their way back into the game. However, all three of Pray's touchdowns came in the 2nd half and helped solidify the win for the Titans. Currently, Pray leads the league with 5 receiving touchdowns on the season.
Defensive Player of the Week: Trevor Glomski (LB, Cedar Rapids Titans)
After giving up a franchise high 191 yards rushing to the Slaughter in Week 1 the Titans knew they had to make some adjustments in the Week 2 rematch. Trevor Glomski (6'1, 240, Concordia) stepped up in a big way, leading the charge to allow only 53 rushing yards. Glomski recorded 13 tackles (6 solo, 7 assisted) including 2.5 for loss. In addition, the Titans defense did not allow the Slaughter to convert a 3rd conversion during the entire game (0-9). Cedar Rapids will need another strong effort from Glomski this week if they hope to slow down the high powered offense of the Texas Revolution. The Revolution lit up the score board for a total of 103 points in their preseason opener last week.
Special Teams Player of the Week: Kyle Jenkins (DL, Chicago Slaughter)
Jenkins (6'4, 250, Northern Illinois) and the rest of the Chicago's Special Teams unit did all they could to keep the Slaughter in the game on Sunday. Jenkins blocked two Radamez Rubio field goal attempts, one of which occurred during the 4th quarter and was returned by teammate Lenny Radtke for a touchdown. Jenkins also turned in an inspired defensive performance, accounting for 6 tackles (3 solo, 3 assisted) 3.5 for loss, and 2.5 sacks. Despite the early season struggles, the Slaughter will look to get on track Saturday night when they host their bitter rivals the Green Bay Blizzard.

Offensive Player of the Week: Martevious Young (QB, Sioux Falls Storm)
Young (6'2, 190, Southern Mississippi) turned in an impressive performance in his Storm debut. In a 64-41 victory over the Green Bay Blizzard, Young completed 11 of 20 passes for 152 yards and 3 touchdowns. Perhaps more impressive was his 101 rushing yards on 18 carries, including a rushing score. It is clear to see that the Storm have adopted a game plan that features Young's many athletic talents. Could we be witnessing the emergence of the IFL's version of Colin Kaepernick? Time will tell, but Storm fans have to be excited about the bright future of Martevious Young.
Defensive Player of the Week: Tyler Knight (LB, Sioux Falls Storm)
The Storm sweep both Offensive and Defensive awards this week as Tyler Knight (6'0, 225, Mississippi Valley State) takes home Defensive honors. Knight made his presence known on Friday night, tallying 13 tackles (11 solo, 2 assisted) and 1 sack. The Storm held the league's leading rushing offense in 2012 (104 yards per game) to only 37 rushing yards. After a year off, the Storm are happy to have their man in the middle back in 2013.
Special Teams Player of the Week: T.J. Simmons (KR, Cedar Rapids Titans)
The Titans started their 2013 campaign with a 41-31 victory over the Chicago Slaughter Saturday night. T.J. Simmons (5'8, 180, University of South Dakota) gave the home town something to cheer about with a dazzling 47 yard kickoff return touchdown during the 3rd quarter of a highly contested game. The touchdown put the Titans up 21-14 and they never relinquished the lead. Simmons finished with 2 returns for 71 yards while contributing on defense as well, tallying 6 tackles (3 solo, 3 assisted).

2013 IFL Season Begins Tonight

It's finally here. After seven long months, the 2013 IFL Regular Season begins tonight.
The IFL Kickoff Classic features two highly anticipated contests between United Conference rivals. The Kickoff Classic begins tonight as the Green Bay Blizzard host the Sioux Falls Storm in a rematch of last year's United Conference Championship game. Kickoff Classic weekend resumes tomorrow night when the Chicago Slaughter travel to face off against the Cedar Rapids Titans.
Sioux Falls Storm at Green Bay Blizzard

The Two-Time defending United Bowl Champion Storm, begin their quest for the "Three-Peat" tonight. The traditionally veteran squad returns some familiar faces, but the 2013 team will rely on a number of newcomers to continue the winning tradition.
Gone is 3-Time IFL MVP QB Chris Dixon. Insert Martevious Young, (6'2, 190) QB from Southern Mississippi. During his Junior season, Young threw for 16 touchdowns vs. only 3 interceptions. He has some experience in the indoor game as well after spending the 2012 season with the Omaha Beef. "We're excited about him," stated Storm Head Coach Kurtiss Riggs. "He's the guy we singled out as having the youth and energy but still enough indoor experience that he won't be awestruck with the indoor game." There is no doubt that Young has some big shoes to fill as he looks to achieve the high expectations of Storm Nation.
Through the many changes to the Storm roster, one thing remains constant. The most dominating unit in all of indoor football, the Storm offensive line, all return for the 2013 campaign. All-IFL OL Myniya Smith, All-IFL Center Charlie Sanders, and Gerald Davis pave the way for this explosive offensive unit.
The Green Bay Blizzard were one win away from reaching the United Bowl last season and are looking for revenge against the team that sent them home. Head Coach Robert Fuller and his staff have assembled a team that they feel can truly compete this season.
Similarly to Sioux Falls, Green Bay will rely on a newcomer to replace an All-IFL performer. RB Laron Council moved on to the Cedar Rapids Titans this offseason, but, if last week's preseason game against the Titans is an indication, the Blizzard have found their new leading man. RB Joshua Murray (5'10, 210, University of Mary/Minnesota Vikings) led the way for the Blizzard rushing for 3 touchdowns in the 67-47 victory. Murray and veteran signal caller Donovan Porterie should prove to be a lethal combination for Green Bay in 2013.
Dangerous kick returner B.J. Hill is back for the Blizzard as well. Hill lead the IFL in kick return average (23.2, minimum 20 returns) and found the end zone 4 times. His combination of speed and ability has the potential to take over any game.
Chicago Slaughter at Cedar Rapids Titans

The Chicago Slaughter enter 2013 looking to improve upon last season's 6-8 campaign. The Slaughter missed the playoffs by the skin of their teeth, falling in the final regular season game to the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks. Steve "Mongo" McMichael returns to the sidelines with a talented roster of players.
University of Illinois alums QB Juice Williams and RB Daniel DuFrene provide veteran leadership in the offensive backfield. DuFrene finished 4th in rushing last season (657 yards) and tied for 3rd in rushing touchdowns (23).
Perhaps the biggest addition to the Slaughter comes on the defensive side with the signing of 2012 Co-Defensive Player of the Year LB Ameer Ismail. Ismail's 167 tackles were tops in the IFL a season ago. He also accounted for 5.5 sacks, 3 interceptions, and 2 forced fumbles.
The Cedar Rapids Titans return for their sophomore year after finishing with a 4-10 record in their inaugural season. Head Coach Mark Stoute begins his first season with the team and will look to bring a new culture to the program. The Titans were perhaps the most active IFL team during the offseason, adding many experienced players to both sides of the football.
The biggest splash during the IFL free agency period occurred when the Titans signed All-IFL RB Laron Council (5'10, 205, Northwest Missouri State) from the Blizzard. Council accomplish a rare feat in indoor football by rushing for over 1,000 yards (1,040) last season, adding 32 touchdowns on the ground. QB Charles McCullum joins the Titans after a stellar 2011 season in Everett. McCullum spent much of last season on injured reserve with an ankle injury. Rounding out the "Big-3" on offense is All-IFL WR Carl Sims. Sims joins the Titans after spending last season with the champion Sioux Falls Storm. In 2012, Sims led the IFL with 1,180 receiving yards in addition to reaching the end zone 20 times.

Green Bay Blizzard Handle Cedar Rapids Titans,67-47, In Preseason Opener

Play defense and run the ball. Those were the two main staples of the Green Bay Blizzard in 2012. If Thursday night's preseason game against the Cedar Rapids Titans is any indication they will again be the main staples of the 2013.
The Blizzard defeated the Cedar Rapids Titans 67-47 on Mediacom Field at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena Thursday Night. The Blizzard rushed for six touchdowns, scored a defensive touchdown on one of the first plays of the game, and led the entire game.
The Cedar Rapids Titans came into the game sporting a new look from 2012. Headed by new Head Coach Mark Stoute, as well as several former Blizzard players including RB LaRon Council, WR Bryan Pray, WR Desmond Tardy and LB Trevor Glomski the Titans looked to try finally end their losing streak against the Blizzard.
Green Bay, again led by two-time IFL Coach of the Year, Robert Fuller, got off to an incredibly hot start as LB Derek Earls recovered a Cedar Rapids fumble for a touchdown on the Titans first drive. Earls then recovered another Titans fumble on their next possession setting up a short field for RB Joshua Murray to give the Blizzard an early 13-0 lead.
The Blizzard never looked back and never trailed throughout the game. Murray would again score in the first quarter, his second of three touchdowns on the night, and help give the Blizzard a 27-14 lead going into the second quarter.
The Blizzard would continue to pile on the points in the second quarter as RB Joel Yogerst, WR Justin Williams, RB Levell Coppage all scored touchdowns and helped give the Blizzard a 47-33 lead at halftime. The Blizzard's 47 points at halftime would have tied a franchise record had the game been a regular season game.
Both teams defenses stiffened in the third quarter as neither team found the endzone. Both teams forced each other to turn the ball over on downs deep into each other's territory. The Blizzard then added three more touchdowns in the fourth quarter and were able to hold off the Titans.
The Blizzard's three headed rushing attack of RB Joshua Murray, RB Levell Coppage and RB Joel Yogerst combined for five rushing touchdown. Murray and Coppage each finished the night with two touchdowns while Yogerst added another one.
