The Texas Revolution announced today, that they have hired the team's first head coach, in advance of the 2013 season.
Head
Coach Billy Back joins the Revolution following three championship
seasons with the Cincinnati Commandos Professional Football team. Coach
Back brings a career 35-3 record to Texas, including a perfect 12-0
season in 2011. During his time in Cincinnati, Back coached over two
league MVP's, two Offensive Players of the Year, a co-Defensive Player
of the Year and was named Co-Coach of the year for 2010.
Prior
to becoming the Head Coach with the Commandos' Back spent six seasons
in Indoor Football, playing in the NIFL, af2 and IFL, and in 2006 led
the NIFL in All Purpose Yards while being named the league's player of
the week on three separate occasions. In addition to coaching the
Commandos, Back spent time coaching at three Cincinnati area High
Schools. Before Indoor Football, Back was a college baseball player at
Miami University of Ohio, and a professional baseball player in the
Pioneer League. In January 2012, Back was inducted into the Miami
University Athletic Hall of Fame for his time as a student athlete at
the school.
"Since
its inception, professional football in Allen has provided the
community with solid coaches and players as well as winning seasons,
said Revolution President Tommy Benizio. "It was important to us that we
bring in someone who has won before, and knows how to build a
championship squad. "

honored to be chosen as the first Head Coach for the Revolution",
stated Billy Back. "From the moment the team made contact with me I knew
that this was going to be a great organization to work with. I
immediately started building what I believe is a championship team, and I
am very excited to start working towards my fourth straight
championship!"
In
addition, Coach Back announced today that he hired a Defensive
Coordinator for the team, Brian Wells, who served as the Assistant Head
Coach in Cincinnati under Back. The team will be adding a few more local
coaches to handle specific positions on the team. Under Back, the
Commandos boasted the league's number one defense each season.
Cici's Pizza Open Player Tryouts to be held this weekend
As
had previously been announced by the team, there will be open player
tryouts brought to you by Cici's Pizza this Sunday, at the Blue Sky
Indoor Soccer Facility in Allen. The cost of the tryout is $65, however
any player that pre-registers by calling the team's front office by the
end of the day on Friday. Everyone is eligible to tryout, regardless of
past experience. All attendees will receive a custom team t-shirt and
free post-tryout meal courtesy of Cici's Pizza, the Official Pizza
provider of the Texas Revolution.
The
Texas Revolution are proud members of the Indoor Football League. The
2013 season kicks off on Thursday, February 21, 2013 against the North
Texas Crunch.
