A
pair of Wichita Wild players as well as a member of the Bloomington
Edge had standout performances in Week 3 of the Champions Professional
Indoor Football League (CPIFL) season and are recognized as Players of
the Week.
Offensive Player of the Week: Rocky Hinds, Wichita Wild
Hinds
led the Wild to a 3-0 record on the year as the Wild won a hard fought
battle with the Kansas Koyotes by a score of 39-20. Hinds passed for 149
yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions. Hinds leads the league
with 12 touchdown passes on the year and has not thrown any
interceptions on his 49 pass attempts this season. Hinds lead Wichita
into their Week 4 home match-up vs. Bloomington on Saturday.
Defensive Player of the Week: James McCartney, Wichita Wild
McCartney
has been terrorizing opposing quarterbacks in the early part of the
season and his performance against Kansas was no different. McCartney
recorded four sacks in the game and leads the league with
seven-and-a-half sacks this season. McCartney and the Wild defense held
the Koyotes scoreless in the second half to secure the victory.
Special Teams Player of the Week: LaVaughn Macon, Bloomington Edge
Macon
returned three field goals for a total of 96 yards in the Edge's 54-3
victory over the Mid-Missouri Outlaws. Macon's 57-yard return for a
touchdown is the longest play in the short history of the CPIFL. Macon
added a kickoff return of 33 yards to average 32.2 yards per return
during the game. Macon also has a 52-yard return for a touchdown in
Bloomington's Week 2 game.
Week
4 of the CPIFL season begins on Friday night with Lincoln hosting Sioux
City and Omaha hosting Kansas. On Saturday, Wichita welcomes
Bloomington to Hartman Arena, Kansas City hosts Oklahoma, and
Mid-Missouri travels to Salina.
