CPIFL Names Week 12 Players of the Week

With only two weeks remaining in the regular season, games in the Champions Professional Indoor Football League continue to take on added importance. The playoff picture stayed muddled after games in Week 12; however three individual players led their teams to victories and are recognized as CPIFL Players of the Week.

Offensive Player of the Week: Chris Coffin, Kansas City Renegades

For the second week in a row, Coffin has won the Offensive Player of the Week award. In Week 12 vs. the Kansas Koyotes, Coffin set the league record for most touchdown passes in a game with eight. Coffin was 11-of-19 passing for 182 yards. In just four games as starter for the Renegades, Coffin has thrown 21 touchdown passes. The Renegades sit in fifth place with a record of 7-4 and wrap up the regular season in Omaha on June 7.

Defensive Player of the Week: DeWayne Autrey, Salina Bombers

The Bombers continued their march toward the playoffs by defeating Lincoln in Week 12. Salina has won five out of their last six games and has solidified their fourth place position. Autrey and the Bombers defense allowed only 14 points to the Haymakers in the victory. Autrey recorded 13 tackles and three interceptions in the game. Autrey is second in the CPIFL with nine interceptions this season. Salina will look to clinch a playoff spot this week as they travel to Mid-Missouri to take on the Outlaws.

Special Teams Player of the Week: Max Martin, Sioux City Bandits

Martin tied his own league record for points scored by a kicker in a game by scoring 16 points in the Bandits 46-21 victory over Wichita. Martin was 4-of-6 on field goals and 4-of-4 on PAT's. Despite playing in only seven games, Martin leads the league in field goals with 15. Sioux City heads to Kansas in Week 13 looking to get one step closer to clinching a home playoff game.

Week 13 of the CPIFL season features three games on Saturday. Omaha visits Lincoln, Sioux City travels to Kansas to battle the Koyotes, and Mid-Missouri hosts Salina. The CPIFL's top four teams after Week 14 will qualify for the playoffs with the league title game scheduled for June 22.

CPIFL Names Week 11 Players of the Week‏

CPIFL teams continued their quest for the playoffs in Week 11 with every game having playoff implications.  With just three weeks left in the regular season, players all over the league are playing their best football of the year.  Three players from Week 11 earned Player of the Week honors for their outstanding performances.

Offensive Player of the Week:  Chris Coffin, Kansas City Renegades

In three games as starting quarterback for the Renegades, Coffin has thrown 13 touchdowns and just one interception.  Saturday vs. Oklahoma Coffin put together one of the best performances in the league this season as tied a league record with seven touchdown passes.  Coffin was 15-of-23 passing for 184 yards in the Renegades 65-28 victory.  The win moved Kansas City to 6-4 on the year.  Kansas City hosts their final home game on Saturday vs. the Kansas Koyotes.

Defensive Player of the Week:  Tim Dandridge, Omaha Beef

With the Beef leading Bloomington 19-13 early in the second quarter and Bloomington with the ball, Dandridge picked up a fumble and returned it 35 yards for the touchdown.  The score changed the momentum of the game and led Omaha to a 51-33 win.  Dandridge added five tackles in the ballgame.  The Beef defense is allowing the second least points per game in the CPIFL at 27.9 points allowed per game.  The Beef (9-1) continue their quest for the top seed in the playoffs as they welcome Oklahoma to the Ralston Arena on Friday.

Special Teams Player of the Week:   Lavaughn Macon, Bloomington Edge

Macon continued his phenomenal season with six kickoff returns for 151 yards in the Edge loss to Omaha.  Macon is averaging 150.8 all-purpose yards per game which ranks second in the league.  His 22.7 yards per kick return ranks third in the CPIFL.  Macon and the Edge travel to Mid-Missouri on Saturday.

Week 12 of the CPIFL season again features numerous games with playoff ramifications.  On Friday, Omaha hosts Oklahoma and on Saturday Wichita travels to Sioux City, Kansas City hosts Kansas, Bloomington visits Mid-Missouri and Lincoln travels to Salina.

CPIFL Names Week 10 Players of the Week

In Week 10 of the CPIFL season, it became obvious that teams were in the hunt for a spot in playoffs, as the league saw several hard fought games. This week, three CPIFL players had outstanding performances worthy of being recognized by the league as Players of the Week.

Offensive Player of the Week: Damon Mothershead, Sioux City Bandits

The receiving corps for the Bandits has been hampered all season by injury, but Mothershead carried the load in the Bandits 56-6 victory over Mid-Missouri on Saturday. Mothershead caught six passes for 92 yards and two touchdowns in the win. As proof of the receiving injuries for the Bandits, Mothershead leads the team in receptions with just 20 on the season. Despite the injuries, the victory moved the Bandits to 6-2 on the year and they will look to further solidify their spot in the playoffs on Saturday in Lincoln.

Defensive Player of the Week: Kendrick Harper, Wichita WIld

Wichita needed every tackle and key interception they could manage on Saturday as the Wild and Salina Bombers battled to a 45-40 thriller that resulted in the Wild remaining atop the CPIFL standings. Kendrick Harper led Wichita's secondary with a recorded three interceptions and three tackles on the night for a Wild victory. The three interceptions tied a league record for most in a game and Harper's 10 interceptions on the year lead the league. Wichita will be taking their 9-1 record into a bye in Week 11 before they travel to Sioux City in Week 12 to take on the third placed Bandits.

Special Teams Player of the Week: Tywon Hubbard, Wichita WIld

Tywon Hubbard has been a significant part of the Wild offense and proved just how essential he is with his performance in Wichita's victory over Salina that helped clinch his team a playoff spot. In the game, Hubbard accumulated 190 yards in kickoff and missed field goal returns to set Wichita up with good field position several times throughout the game. He returned a missed field goal 57 yards to open the second quarter, which ties a league record in addition to his 94 total missed field goal return yards which is the second most in league history. Hubbard currently leads the CPIFL with 17 touchdowns so far this season.

Week 11 of the CPIFL season features four games with Wichita and Mid-Missouri having the week off. The week starts on Friday with Omaha traveling to Bloomington and continues Saturday when Lincoln hosts Sioux City, Kansas makes the short trip to Salina and Kansas City travels to Oklahoma to take on the Defenders.

CPIFL Names Players of the Week

As CPIFL teams make their final push to the playoffs, individual performances become more important. This week, the CPIFL recognizes four players whose teams earned important victories in Week 9.

Offensive Player of the Week: James McNear, Omaha Beef

McNear and the Beef (6-1) continued their winning ways in Week 9 with a 68-13 victory over Mid-Missouri. McNear completed 16-of-20 passes for 111 yards and five touchdowns. McNear also added 41 yards and a touchdown on the ground in the game. McNear is second in the league with 26 touchdown passes. The Beef host Lincoln in a heated rivalry game on Saturday.

Defensive Player of the Week: Justice Scales, Salina Bombers

Scales tied a league record with three interceptions in Salina's 55-31 victory over the Kansas Koyotes in Week 9. It was the third victory in a row for Salina and moved their record to 5-2 on the year. Scales returned two of the interceptions for touchdowns. He also recorded seven tackles. The Bombers victory set up a huge game in Wichita on Saturday night as both teams are battling for playoff position.

Special Teams Player of the Week: Max Martin, Sioux City and Courtney Grixby, Lincoln

For the second time this year, Max Martin kicked his way to the Special Teams Player of the Week award. Martin connected on 3-of-5 field goals and 6-of-6 extra points in the Bandits 51-42 victory over Kansas City. The field goals measured 41, 24, and 22 yards. Martin is ranked second amongst kickers in the league in scoring with 59 points. Sioux City (5-2) hosts Mid-Missouri on Saturday.

Grixby led the Haymakers (3-4) to a 48-39 home victory over Bloomington last Friday. Grixby returned four kickoffs for 91 yards and he returned a missed field goal 56 yards for a touchdown. Grixby is averaging 18.4 yards per kick return this year, which ranks fifth in the league. Lincoln will be looking for their third win in a row as the Haymakers travel to Omaha on Saturday.

Week 10 of the CPIFL season kicks-off with Bloomington hosting Kansas City on Friday night in a critical game for both clubs. On Saturday, Wichita hosts Salina, Kansas visits Oklahoma, Mid-Missouri visits Sioux City, and Lincoln travels to Omaha.

CPIFL Names Players of the Week

The Salina Bombers earned their first CPIFL Player of the Week award as the Champions Professional Indoor Football League announces its award winners for Week 8.  Also recognized are a player from the Bloomington Edge for the second consecutive week and a busy kicker from Wichita.

Offensive Player of the Week:  Dane Simoneau, Salina Bombers

Simoneau and the Bombers (4-2) vaulted into a tie for third place in the CPIFL with the Bombers 47-31 victory over Kansas City.  Simoneau was 13-of-19 passing for 195 yards and five touchdowns.  Simoneau is averaging 164.8 passing yards per game which is second in the league.  His 19 touchdown passes ranks third.  Salina travels to Topeka, KS to take on the Kansas Koyotes in Week 9.

Defensive Player of the Week:  Ross Cochran, Bloomington Edge

Cochran led the Bloomington (4-3) defense with 13 tackles in the first shutout in CPIFL history as the Edge defeated the Kansas Koyotes by a score of 48-0.  Cochran holds the league record for most tackles in a single game as he recorded 15 tackles vs. Mid-Missouri in Week 3.  Cochran added 1.5 sacks in the victory over Kansas.  Cochran is averaging 9.6 tackles per game which leads the league.  Bloomington will be looking for their third victory in a row as the Edge travel to Lincoln to take on the Haymakers on Friday night.

Special Teams Player of the Week:  Alex Fambrough, Wichita Wild

Fambrough was nearly perfect in a busy night for the Wild kicker.  Fambrough was 10-of-11 in PAT’s setting a new CPIFL record for most PAT’s in a game.  Fambrough was also 2-for-2 in field goals on the night.  Fambrough leads the league with 41 PAT’s made this season.  The 7-1 Wild host Oklahoma on Saturday night.   

Week 9 of the CPIFL season kicks-off with Bloomington travelling to Lincoln on Friday night.  On Saturday, Wichita hosts Oklahoma, Salina visits Kansas, and Sioux City visits Kansas City.  The week wraps up on Sunday with Omaha hosting Mid-Missouri.

CPIFL Names Players of the Week

A pair of Bloomington Edge players and, for the fourth consecutive week, a player from the Kansas City Renegades has been named Champions Professional Indoor Football League (CPIFL) Players of the Week. The players are being recognized for the performance in Week 7 of the CPIFL season.

Offensive Player of the Week: Andre Raymond, Bloomington Edge

Raymond averaged 6.7 yards per carry in the Edge's 44-39 victory over Oklahoma. Raymond finished the game with 80 yards on the ground and two rushing touchdowns. He added two receptions for 11 yards and another touchdown in the ballgame. Raymond is second in the IFL in rushing touchdowns with 8. The Edge hit the road again and travels to Topeka, KS for a battle with the Koyotes in Week 8.

Defensive Player of the Week: Donta Moore, Kansas City Renegades

Moore and the Renegades defense continued their impressive play. The Renegades have won four consecutive games after starting the year 0-2. In Week 7 vs. Mid.-Missouri, Moore recorded three interceptions and three tackles in the 38-24 victory. Moore's final interception came when KC was clinging to a seven point lead. Moore returned the interception 41-yards for the touchdown sealing the victory. Kansas City goes for six wins in a row as they welcome Salina to Kemper Arena on Saturday.

Special Teams Player of the Week: LaVaughn Macon, Bloomington Edge

Macon returned six kickoffs for 100 yards and a blocked field goal 28 yards for a touchdown in the Edge victory. This is the second time this season that Macon has been recognized as Special Teams Player of the Week. Macon now leads the CPIFL in all-purpose yards with 929.

The CPIFL starts the second half of the season on Friday night with Oklahoma travelling to Lincoln. On Saturday, Wichita travels to Mid.-Missouri, Kansas hosts Bloomington, Omaha visits Sioux City, and Salina visits Kansas City.

CPIFL Names Players of the Week

For the second consecutive week a player from the Omaha Beef had an outstanding offensive performance and for the first time a Player of the Week award is shared as two special teams players had outstanding games in Week 6 action.

Offensive Player of the Week: RJ Rollins, Omaha Beef

Rollins follows teammate Judd Harrold who was recognized for his offensive performance last week. In the Beef's 55-49 nail-biting victory over Lincoln, Rollins tallied 56 yards on 10 carries. He scored three touchdowns on the ground. Rollins also caught three passes for 23 yards and another score. This week the undefeated Beef travel to Wichita to take on the Wild in a match-up of two of the leagues top teams.

Defensive Player of the Week: Teon Wilson, Kansas City Renegades

Wilson and the Renegades defense held Kansas to only 28 points in the Renegades third consecutive victory. Wilson recorded five tackles with three sacks in the win. One of the sacks recorded a safety for Kansas City. Wilson also forced and recovered a fumble. Kansas City will look for their fourth victory in a row as they travel to Sedalia, Mo to take on Mid-Missouri.

Special Teams Player of the Week: Max Martin, Sioux City Bandits and Tywon Hubbard, Wichita Wild

Both Martin and Hubbard put together performances worthy of the Player of the Week award. Martin made 4-of-5 field goals including field goals of 41 and 36 yards. All four field goals were over 30 yards and each one proved important as the Bandits defeated Salina 46-43. Martin was also 4-of-4 on extra points in the ball game.

Hubbard returned six kicks for 198 yards and a touchdown for the Wild in their 49-35 victory over the Bloomington Edge. Hubbard leads the league average 26.8 yards per kick return. His 56 yard touchdown return vs. the Edge tied the league record for longest return.

Week 7 of the CPIFL season begins on Friday night with Salina travelling to Lincoln. On Saturday, Wichita hosts Omaha, Bloomington travels to Oklahoma to take on the Defenders and Kansas City visits Mid-Missouri. Kansas and Sioux City are on bye.

Harrold, Gallegos, and Simpson Named CPIFL Players of the Week

The Kansas Koyotes and Omaha Beef each have players recognized for the first time in the CPIFL weekly awards while the Kansas City Renegades are represented for the second week in a row. Each player led their team to victory in Week 5 of the CPIFL season.

Offensive Player of the Week: Judd Harrold, Omaha Beef

Harrold and the Beef won a thrilling double-overtime game over the Sioux City Bandits by the final score of 32-26. Harrold caught nine passes for 107 yards and three touchdowns. All of his production came after halftime. Harrold's final touchdown was a 25-yard reception that gave the Beef the victory. Omaha sits atop the CPIFL standings at 3-0. The Beef travel to Lincoln to take on the Haymakers on Friday night.

Defensive Player of the Week: Anthony Gallegos, Kansas Koyotes

Gallegos' presence was felt early in the Koyotes 49-18 victory over Mid-Missouri. In the first quarter, Gallegos chased down Outlaws QB Damien Dunning to save a touchdown and on the next play Gallegos intercepted a pass to set-up a Koyotes touchdown. As time expired in the opening frame, Gallegos intercepted a pass and ran 15 yards for the touchdown to give Kansas a 19-0 lead. Gallegos led the team in tackles with six. Kansas returns home this week to play Kansas City on Friday night.

Special Teams Player of the Week: OJ Simpson, Kansas City Renegades

Simpson returned four kicks for 152 yards and two touchdowns in the Renegades 40-36 victory over the Wichita Wild. In the third quarter, Wichita scored to make the score 26-23 in favor of Kansas City. With the momentum clearly on the Wild's side, Simpson returned the ensuing kickoff 56 yards for the touchdown. Kansas City travels to Topeka, Kan. to take on the Kansas Koyotes on Friday night.

Week 6 of the CPIFL season begins on Friday night with a trio of games including Bloomington hosting Wichita, Sioux City travelling to Salina, and Kansas hosting Kansas City. On Saturday, Lincoln hosts Omaha and the week wraps up in Oklahoma on Sunday when the Defenders play Mid-Missouri.

Solomon, Moss, and Grixby Named CPIFL Players of the Week

For the second week in a row a defensive lineman from the Wichita Wild has been recognized as Defensive Player of the Week in the Champions Professional Indoor Football League (CPIFL). Members of the Kansas City Renegades and Lincoln Haymakers are also being honored for their performances in Week 4.

Offensive Player of the Week: Clinton Solomon, Kansas City Renegades

Solomon helped Kansas City to their first win of the year by catching nine passes for 110 yards. Solomon scored four touchdowns in the 54-47 win over the Oklahoma Defenders. Solomon is fourth in the league in touchdowns with five. The Renegades will look for a winning streak as the Wichita Wild visit Kemper Arena on Saturday.

Defensive Player of the Week: Matt Moss, Wichita Wild

A week after James McCartney was recognized as Defensive Player of the Week, his teammate Matt Moss put together a dominating performance in another victory for the Wild. Moss recorded six tackles with three sacks vs. the Bloomington Edge. Moss is second in the league with 7.5 sacks this season. Moss and the Wild hit the road to Kansas City to take on the Renegades this week.

Special Teams Player of the Week: Courtney Grixby, Lincoln Haymakers

Grixby is the first player in CPIFL history to be recognized as a player of the Week twice. Grixby was named Defensive Player of the Week in Week 2. In the Haymakers loss to Sioux City, Grixby returned five kicks for 130 yards including the longest kick return in the league this season of 55 yards for a touchdown. The Haymakers travel to Bloomington for a Friday night clash with the Edge in Week 5.

Week 5 of the CPIFL season begins on Friday night with Bloomington hosting Lincoln. On Saturday Kansas travels to Mid-Missouri, Kansas City hosts Wichita and Oklahoma travels to Salina to take on the Bombers. The week wraps up in Omaha on Sunday where the Beef battle Sioux City.

Hinds, McCartney and Macon Named CPIFL Players of the Week

A pair of Wichita Wild players as well as a member of the Bloomington Edge had standout performances in Week 3 of the Champions Professional Indoor Football League (CPIFL) season and are recognized as Players of the Week.

Offensive Player of the Week: Rocky Hinds, Wichita Wild

Hinds led the Wild to a 3-0 record on the year as the Wild won a hard fought battle with the Kansas Koyotes by a score of 39-20. Hinds passed for 149 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions. Hinds leads the league with 12 touchdown passes on the year and has not thrown any interceptions on his 49 pass attempts this season. Hinds lead Wichita into their Week 4 home match-up vs. Bloomington on Saturday.

Defensive Player of the Week: James McCartney, Wichita Wild

McCartney has been terrorizing opposing quarterbacks in the early part of the season and his performance against Kansas was no different. McCartney recorded four sacks in the game and leads the league with seven-and-a-half sacks this season. McCartney and the Wild defense held the Koyotes scoreless in the second half to secure the victory.

Special Teams Player of the Week: LaVaughn Macon, Bloomington Edge

Macon returned three field goals for a total of 96 yards in the Edge's 54-3 victory over the Mid-Missouri Outlaws. Macon's 57-yard return for a touchdown is the longest play in the short history of the CPIFL. Macon added a kickoff return of 33 yards to average 32.2 yards per return during the game. Macon also has a 52-yard return for a touchdown in Bloomington's Week 2 game.

Week 4 of the CPIFL season begins on Friday night with Lincoln hosting Sioux City and Omaha hosting Kansas. On Saturday, Wichita welcomes Bloomington to Hartman Arena, Kansas City hosts Oklahoma, and Mid-Missouri travels to Salina.

CPIFL Announces First Players of the Week

The Champions Professional Indoor Football League (CPIFL) has selected the first Players of the Week in league history. Each week the league will recognize an Offensive, Defensive, and Special Teams Player of the Week. The CPIFL completed Week 2 this past weekend with all ten teams in action and eight out of the ten teams playing in their first game of the season.

Offensive Player of the Week: Eddie Pertilla, Sioux City Bandits Pertilla accounted for 145 receiving yards out of the 173 total yards through the air that the Bandits gained in their 62-56 victory over the Bloomington Edge. Pertilla caught five passes and he converted all of them into touchdowns. The touchdowns were 43, 22, 34, 5, and 41 yards in length. The Bandits open their home schedule on Friday night vs. Kansas City.

Defensive Player of the Week: Courtney Grixby, Lincoln Haymakers In the first overtime game in CPIFL history, the Haymakers defense stopped Mid-Missouri after a Lincoln score in overtime to secure the road win for the Haymakers. Grixby recorded nine tackles and two interceptions in the ballgame. The second interception came with 4:05 left in the game and seemed to seal the victory for the Haymakers. The Haymakers could not score and the Outlaws scored a touchdown with eight seconds left to send the game to the extra session. Lincoln scored a touchdown on the first possession to make the score 38-31. Mid-Missouri was unable to answer with a score of their own in the extra period.

Special Teams Player of the Week: Winston Holder, Oklahoma Defenders Holder averaged almost 25 yards per return in the Defenders' 62-40 victory over the Kansas Koyotes. Holder returned four kicks for a total of 99 yards including a 53-yard return for a TD in the first quarter. The road victory brought the Defenders record to 1-1 on the season.

Week 3 of the CPIFL season begins on Friday night with Sioux City hosting Kansas City and Bloomington hosting Mid-Missouri. On Saturday, Wichita opens their home schedule vs. the Kansas Koyotes.

Lincoln Haymakers To Host Open House

The Lincoln Haymakers would like to invite the entire community to join the team Friday February 15th at the Pershing Center from 4-6:30pm for their open house event. Fans will be able to meet players, coaches, and front office staff inside the Haymakers home arena for the first time. Fans interested in Season Tickets will be able to hand pick the seats they want as well as purchase single game tickets and official team merchandise. The Pershing Center will have the field and dasher board walls set up just like game night so fans can get a feel for the actual layout as indoor football comes to Lincoln. Fans will also be invited to stick around after the open house to watch Haymakers practice from 7-8:00pm; which is normally closed to the public.
The Haymakers are training for their pre-season game February 23rd in Grand Island, NE against the Nebraska Danger. The Haymakers will play in Lincoln for the first time Friday March 29th in the New Victorian Suites Kickoff Classic against the Sioux City Bandits with kickoff at 7:05pm. Ticket Price Changes In Place For 2013 Wichita Wild Season

The Wichita Wild Professional Indoor Football Team is announcing price changes for single game and season tickets for the upcoming 2013 season. This year's prices will decrease 7-10 dollars for single game tickets and 50-60 dollars for season tickets from the 2012 season. Season tickets are available for purchase now, while single game tickets can be purchased beginning February 22, 2013. This change is a result of the Wild's entrance into a new league, the Champions Professional Indoor Football league, which includes two less regular season games than their previous membership in the IFL. This year the Wild will play a total of 12 games, 6 of which will be hosted at Hartman Arena.
A major difference in the Wild seating format from last season is the new general admission seating which will be located in Section 101. Tickets can be purchased for $5 per game in this seating area and fans are free to sit anywhere in the section. General reserve seating has been lowered to $9 a ticket, player bench level seating to $12 a ticket, and club level seating will be $16 a seat.
Season ticket prices will also differ with tickets as low as $24 in general admission, general reserve seating at $48, player bench level seating at $66 and club seats at $84. Season tickets include early entrance to the game at 6:00 p.m. through the Coors Light Lounge and first right of refusal for playoff tickets. For fans choosing to purchase Club seats, there is an option to buy access to the VIP Hartmoor Club for an additional $15 per game. The fee covers access to the club, private entry into the arena 30 minutes before doors open to the public, as well as a selection of free hor d'oeuvres and a full service bar. The Wild will host 6 regular season home games this season in the CPIFL, beginning with the Kansas Koyotes on March 23rd and concluding June 8th against the Mid-Missouri Outlaws. Omaha Beef Announce Game Announcer Tryouts

The Omaha Beef Indoor Football Team has announced that they will hold an open tryout for the Game Announcer position. Lincoln Haymakers Preparing For Inaugural CPIFL Season

With Tryouts wrapping up this last weekend, Organized Team Activities will begin on January 22. The Lincoln Haymakers take the field for the first time in 2013 under Head Coach Dave Brumagen. With Pre Season Camp starting the players will be together for the first time at the Haymakers Practice Facility. This is a time of new beginnings as it will also mark the start of the Champions Professional Indoor Football League's first year brining many established Midwestern indoor teams back together. After Tryouts wrapped up we spoke with Coach Brumagen and asked his thoughts on the upcoming season.
"We've got a lot of highly talented players coming into camp, so it will be exciting to see who makes the final cut. We have a good core of players to start off building a team and I'm anxious to see the competition in camp."
Camp invites have been extended to players around the Lincoln area as free agents work to make the final 30 man roster. The Haymakers Pre-season will conclude on February 23 with an exhibition game in Grand Island, NE against the Nebraska Danger of the Indoor Football League. That game will likely determine the opening night roster for Lincoln.
The home opener on Friday March 29th against the Sioux City Bandits is quickly approaching and the excitement is starting to grow around the team offices and in the community. The organization is planning entertaining game nights for fans at the Pershing Center.

Lincoln Haymakers Announce First Player Tryouts

The new professional indoor football team in town, The Haymakers, will hold open tryouts for anyone looking to play professional indoor football. Tryouts will be held Saturday December 29th, 2012 at The Bison Sports Arena. The Lincoln Haymakers will begin play in The CPIFL (Champions Professional Indoor Football League) in March. All games will be at The Pershing Center.

Omaha Beef Ralston Arena Open House On Saturday

Omaha Beef Announce New Ownership and New League - Andy Yost Named Head Coach

The Omaha Beef Indoor Football Team officially announced today that Cornhusker Beef, Inc. has purchased the assets of the Omaha Beef and will begin competition in the new, ten team, Champions Professional Indoor Football League (CPIFL) in March of 2013.
The ownership group of Rich Tokheim, Gerard Daly and Jim Tokheim have begun administering the day-to-day operations of the Omaha Beef franchise which is entering its 14th season of competition.
"We are excited to take control of the Omaha Beef and look forward to providing the entire metro area with affordable, family fun at the new Ralston Arena," Rich Tokheim said.
The Beef also announced Andy Yost as Head Coach. Yost is a former Omaha Beef head coach, long time coordinator and finished the 2012 campaign as co-head coach while leading the Beef to playoff qualification. Veteran Beef player signings will be announced in the coming days.
Omaha will play a twelve game schedule beginning in March and will look forward to geographical rivalries with teams like Sioux City, Kansas City and Lincoln, while maintaining old rivalries against former IFL teams Wichita and Bloomington.

Sioux City Bandits Announce More Veteran Signings and Coaching Staff

The Sioux City Bandits are excited to announce that three players have decided to return to the team and release the names of the coaching staff for the 2013 Champions Professional Indoor Football League (CPIFL) season.
Spetlar Tonga (LB-6'0 235 lbs) returns for what will be his 9th season with the Bandits. Last season, Tonga had a grand total of 56 tackles, making him 2nd defensive leader for the season. Tonga, as a career high, had 9 interceptions for 112 yards. For career high fumble returns, Tonga had 5, in which he returned for a total of 37 yards. Tonga ranks 1st overall in career tackles with 635 in his time with the Bandits from 2004 to 2008 and again from 2010 to 2012. Tonga is one of the most popular players to play for the Bandits.
Damon Mothershead (WR-6'0 190 lbs) returns for his 7th season with the Bandits after having 32 catches for 416 yards with 11 touchdowns last season. As a career high, Mothershead has a total of 175 pass receptions for 2191 yards as a Bandit from 2007 to 2012. With that being said, he is ranked 4th overall in all purpose yards with 2713. Mothershead also has a career grand total of 46 pass reception touchdowns.
Chase Colvin (WR-6'3 200 lbs) makes a return for what will mark his 3rd season as a Bandit. In his 9 games last season, Colvin had a total of 12 tackles. He also had 6 catches for 128 yards with 2 touchdowns. Colvin averaged 14.50 yards a catch in 22 catches for 319 yards in his career with the Bandits. He is a graduate of Briar Cliff University.
Erv Strohbeen returns for his 2nd year as Head Coach of the Bandits. In his inaugural season as Head Coach last year, he was 2-0 in the playoffs, winning the 2012 American Professional Football League title, and was 14-0 overall. For 3 years prior to becoming Head Coach, he had been an Assistant Coach for the offensive and defensive lines. Strohbeen retired as a Bandits player in 2009 as the leader of games played with 130.
Jarrod DeGeorgia returns as Offensive Coordinator for the 2013 season. In his time as a Bandits quarterback, DeGeorgia had 209 rushing attempts in 591 yards. DeGeorgia is also 2nd in Bandits career history in rushing touchdowns, in which he had 48. He is also the overall leader in pass attempts with 1389 and 752 completions for 8,615 yards and had 147 passing touchdowns.
John Zevenbergen returns as Defensive Coordinator for his 2nd season. Zevenbergen is one of the Bandit career defensive leaders, having played defensive back for 3 years. He ranks number 8 overall in total tackles for his career, with 206.
Keith Chapman is back as an Assistant Coach for his 2nd season. In 2012, Keith coordinated the Special Teams for the Bandits. Keith played for the Bandits in 2005.
The Sioux City Bandits Tryout Camps are being held on Saturday, Dec. 15 at the Long Lines Center and Sunday, Jan. 20th at the Tyson Events Center. The camp runs from 8 am to noon each day.

Omaha Beef Set To Announce New Ownership Group

The Omaha Beef Indoor Football Team have announced a new ownership group that will oversee team operations in 2013 and beyond. Cornhusker Beef, has purchased the assets of the Omaha Beef. A press conference will be held Thursday, December 6th at 2:00 p.m. at the Ralston Arena to introduce the new owners and coaches. Season tickets and sponsorship package will also be available.
The ownership group of Rich Tokheim, along with Gerard Daly and Jim Tokheim, will administer day-to-day operations of the Beef, effective immediately. Rich Tokheim is a local businessman and proprietor of The Dugout and Husker Express fan apparel shops. Both he and his brother, Jim Tokheim, have been active in the Omaha sports community for many years. Gerard Daly specializes in commercial real estate acquisitions for CBRE. As a life- long resident and retired volunteer firefighter for the city of Ralston, Daly has strong ties to the community and to the success of the Ralston Arena.
"We are excited to take control of the eef, and look forward to providing the community with affordable, family fun at the Ralston rena," said Tokheim. "With our additional new store at the Ralston Arena The Dugout and Husker Express and with make a great partnership with the Omaha eef"
The Beef are also excited to bring back a group of veteran's coaches off of last year's coaching staff. A formal announcement will be made in the coming days introducing this year's coaches. In addition, key administrative staff remains in place and will provide a seamless transition to the team's new home in the Ralston rena.
The Beef have released their 2013 Schedule and have six regular season home games and one preseason game. The new ownership group is working hard this offseason to build business and community relationships that will endure for years to come. Season ticket plans will be available this week.
