The West Virginia Badgers have formally announced the New Website is open for business. “The Website will be a great source of marketing for our businesses and stream of information for our ticket holders/ fans” said Justin Coble the Director of Football Operations.

AIF Holds 2013 League Meetings

The AIF, American Indoor Football held their annual league meetings this past December 6th at the Historic Yorktowne Hotel in York Pa. Ownership groups from all 2013 AIF teams where represented at the meeting, the Harrisburg Stampede, Roc City Thunder, Washington Eagles, West Virginia Badgers, York Capitals and last year’s  AIF Champion the Cape Fear Heroes  Also in attendance was the ownership group from the Wilkes-Barre/ Scranton Pa. market who has committed to play in the 2014 season.
The first order of business announced was the six AIF team members that will be playing in 2013 as well as the under contract expansion markets of Wiles-Barre/ Scranton Pa. and Baltimore Maryland with the return of the AIF to 1st Mariner Arena in 2014. In addition the AIF announced it was in discussions with two ownership groups about securing teams in the State of South Carolina for the 2014 season
In a long day of meetings league officials and team owners covered a wide variety of topics from team budgets, team revenue streams, vendor products, a weekly AIF radio podcast as well as the radio broadcasts of team games. In addition a league executive and standards committee was formed featuring the owners of three AIF teams as well as members of the AIF ownership and management team to steer the direction and vision of the league. The final order of business was the 2013 AIF Schedule which was completed and will be released to the public in the next several days.

Virginia Badgers Announce Major Move for the AIF 2013 Season

Virginia Badgers announced today that the Badgers are moving to Ranson, WV to play at the Ranson Civic Center.
They will be known going forward as the West Virginia Badgers.
They would also like to welcome aboard former Badgers Running back and All time leading rusher Andre McDonald as part of their ownership group as well as Lucas Taylor. Coach Dawes will still retain the title of majority owner and will also be the team's Head Coach.

Roc City Thunder Jerseys and Helmets Designs Announced

After two weeks of heavy voting on the Roc City Thunder Facebook and Twitter, the fans have chosen which Jerseys and Helmets/Helmet logos the Thunder will take the field with when the team open their inaugural season in March 2013. (See below)
All fans who voted will be eligible to win free season tickets at the first home game! The Roc City are committed to provide a fan oriented, family friendly, and fast paced football entertainment to the community. There will be many opportunities for fans to become involved even more in the coming months. The Roc City Thunder will be holding Open player tryouts coming up in December and will be announcing their roster after the First of the Year.

York Capitals Is The Official Name For The 2013 AIF Expansion Team

The Fans have Spoken and The Name is Official! York Capitals Is The Official Name For The 2013 AIF Expansion Team that will play in York, PA.
The American Indoor Football league and the ownership of the new expansion team want to thank all the fans who voted. "We had an incredible response to the contest with well over 1000 votes cast and want to thank all the fans who participated. We're excited to have the York Capitals for the 2013 season."  stated John Morris of the American Indoor Football league.
The York Capitals took off to an early lead in the voting and never looked back. Fans cast well over 1000 votes combined on the Facebook and League polls to make the York Capitals the winning name!  The league wants to congratulate the fans who submitted a valid entry.

Roc City Thunder Fans to Help Decide Thunder Helmet

In the spirit of the Election season, the Roc City Thunder is giving the fans a voice in the look and feel of our team for the inaugural 2013 season. Starting Friday Nov 2nd through Friday Nov 16th fans will have the opportunity to vote on Facebook for the look and style of the Jerseys and Helmets to be worn this season.
By going to our Facebook page Facebook/RocCityThunder over the next two weeks fans can like our page and cast their vote for the uniforms and helmets our players will take the field with in March. Fans may also tweet their votes to us at @RocCityThunder on twitter. The Winning results will be revealed online on Facebook, at our website RocCityThunder.com and in a press conference later in the month. In a hotly contested election season, cast your vote for the Roc City Thunder!

Philadelphia Soul to Host Charity Flip Cup Tournament

The Eastern Division Champion Philadelphia Soul (13-3) and Xfinity Live! will host the World's Largest Flip Cup Game for charity Sunday, July 8 at Xfinity Live! before their game against the Spokane Shock.
The flip cup game was initiated as a way to collect as many Red Solo Cups as possible for the Solo Cup Brigade, the Soul's Community Service Initiative for the game July 8.
Proceeds from the cups purchased and turned in will go to the Wilford Hall Fisher House.
The Wilford Hall Fisher House is a home-away-from-home for families of seriously ill or injured service men and women receiving treatment at the Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center, San Antonio Military Medical Center or other medical facilities in the San Antonio Area.
To participate in the game players can either donate $1 to receive a Red Solo Cup or bring their own RSC to donate (only Red Solo Cups are valid). Red Solo Cups will be available to the first 500 registrants. Registration will begin at noon outside of Victory Beer Hall where participants will be designated to one of two teams.
In addition to the entry fee donation, the Soul and Xfinity Live! will turn in the Red Solo Cups to Terra Cycle who will give up to $0.10 per cup collected for one large donation to the Wilford Hall Fisher House.
Water will be provided for the game and beer can be used if purchased from Xfinity Live!
After the game is over, participants are invited to stick around and tailgate all the way up to the Soul game at 6:05 p.m. against the Spokane Shock and drop off your Red Solo Cups as you enter the arena to watch the game. The Red Solo Cups will be collected at the Broad St. and 11th St. entrances.

Cape Fear Heroes complete perfect season by winning AIF championship 79- 27

The Cape Fear Heroes scored early and often in the AIF Championship Game, dismantling the California Eagles 79-27.The undefeated Heroes (9-0) won their first AIF Championship this season becoming the second indoor football team in the region to win a national title. The Fayetteville Guard won its title in 2007.
The Heroes got off to a quick start offensively scoring 25 unanswered points and scoring on four of their six drives in the first half to take a 34-7 lead into halftime. Both quarterbacks Patrick Pickney and Garrett Sutphen had impressive games leading the Heroes offensive up and down the field at will most of the night.
The defense also got into the scoring action too with touchdowns from Clenton Cochran and J.R. Hair. The Heroes defense also sacked California's quarterbacks eight times, recording four safeties, and forcing three turnovers.
Charles Gunnings the head coach of the Heroes says the Heroes set many goals before the season started and players and coaches alike stayed on track and worked hard to achieve those goals by putting in countless hours of preparation on the practice field, in the weight room and in the film room. That dedication has paid off for the Heroes I could not be happier for these guys.
In a town known for its sports the Cape Fear Heroes now join a list of notable athletes and sporting accomplishments from the area. From Babe Ruth hitting his first home run in professional baseball in Fayetteville to being a hotbed for professional athletes including NFL players like Brad Edwards (Washington Redskins), Marvin Powell (New York Jets), Doug Wilkerson (San Diego Chargers), Joe Harris (Rams), Joe Horn (Atlanta Falcons), Donnell Wolford (Chicago Bears) as well as NFL owner Jerry Richardson and PGA golfer Raymond Floyd.

Marcus Colston Becomes A Harrisburg Stampede Owner

The Stampede are only 5 days from reporting to team meetings and the start of training camp. In keeping with his promise of "New Attitude, New Direction", Stampede Owner Justin Coble was able to bring hometown Harrisburg product and current New Orleans Saints star Marques Colston, back to the Stampede Ownership Team.
"I'm excited to be back with this organization. Justin has done a great job changing the attitude and the culture of how the Stampede operates. Together, we look forward to committing ourselves to the community and businesses of Harrisburg and the surrounding areas."
These two guys are the perfect match as owners of the Stampede and for all the right reasons. Both men believe in the Stampede and the potential of good, that a well-run team in our community can mean to an area. More importantly, both men believe in The Dauphin County, Harrisburg and surrounding areas."We plan to represent the Harrisburg and Dauphin County communities with Professionalism, Dignity and Respect", commented Coble.
