The Charlotte Speed announced today that ESPN 730 AM has signed on as "Official Radio Partner of the Charlotte Speed."
Owners
of the AM Dial, ESPN 730 AM WZGV is Charlotte's home for sports talk.
ESPN 730 AM WZGV is home of the Charlotte Checkers, UNCC football and
basketball, as well as NFL football, College football, College
basketball, Major League Baseball and NBA radio from ESPN.
As
part of the new relationship, ESPN 730 AM will air Charlotte Speed Home
Games in 2013. The station will also support the Speed via website,
promotions, on-air and e-communication. The Speed and ESPN 730 will host
events and promotions together throughout the coming year.

important partnership is another vote of confidence in the potential
that Professional Indoor Football has in Charlotte. ESPN 730 is a great
partner and understands that the Speed are a growing team that already

PIFL Adds Eighth Member in Charlotte Speed
The
Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL) is proud to announce the
addition of the Charlotte Speed franchise making them the eighth and
final member of the PIFL for the upcoming 2013 season.
Based in Charlotte, NC, the expansion Speed will be led by two former NFL veterans in General Manager Mo Collins and Head Coach Brentson Buckner with the Bojangles' Coliseum serving as their home venue.
The Speed ultimately decided the PIFL regional footprint was more ideal for the organization's future. Charlotte marks the second addition of the offseason for the PIFL as just last month the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks were added as the seventh member.
The PIFL now consists of teams in Richmond, VA, Knoxville, TN, Columbus, GA, Albany, GA, Huntsville, AL, Lake Charles, LA, Lehigh Valley, PA, and Charlotte, NC. The league holds a 12-game regular season schedule that runs March through June. The PIFL's playoffs begin in late June culminating with the PIFL Championship Cup.
With the addition of the eighth and final member, league being to put the final touches on the 2013 football schedule with a release coming in the next month.

Brentson Buckner Becomes First Official Head Coach of the Charlotte Speed
The
Charlotte Speed is pleased to announce Brentson A. Buckner as the first
official head coach of the Charlotte-based professional indoor football
organization, starting games in 2013.
Bucker was the 50th overall NFL draft pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1994. In his three years with the Steelers, Bucker started in two AFC Championship games as well as Super Bowl XXX. He was a key member of the BLITZBURGH DEFENSE that also featured Greg Lloyd, Kevin Green, Levon Kirkland, Chad Brown, and future NFL Hall of Fame member, Rod Woodson.
In 1997, Buckner spent one year in Cincinnati for Hall of Fame member, Dick LeBeau. He spent the years of 1998 through 2000 playing for the San Francisco 49ers. Buckner’s teammates were Jerry Rice and Steve Young, both Hall of Fame members, as well as Charles Haley, Terrell Owens, Bryant Young, Ken Norton Jr. and current Carolina Panthers coach, Ray Brown.
In 2001, Buckner joined the Carolina Panthers as a free agent. After a 1-15 season in 2011, Buckner alongside teammates Julius Peppers, Kris Jenkins, Mike Rucker, AL Wallace and Shane Burton, formed one of the best defensive lines in NFL History. They were the foundation of the Panthers’ run to Super Bowl XXXVIII. Buckner was also the team Captain of the 2003 Panthers team that reached Super Bowl XXXVIII.
Buckner’s last game in the NFL was the 2005 NFC Championship game against the Seattle Seahawks. He then retired, bringing an end to an impressive 12-year career.

Brentson brings keen football intellect to the table and can get the job done. Other than a long an notable career, Brentson has an impressive resume and natural ability regarding coaching. Brentson is also a Charlotte resident and family man. He is the ideal package and we couldn’t be more enthused”, said Charlotte Speed General Manager Mo Collins.
