Orlando to Host ArenaBowl XXVI

The Arena Football League, Orlando Predators and Amway Center are pleased to announce that ArenaBowl XXVI will be played in Orlando on August 17, 2013. The game will be televised live on the CBS Television Network.
"The world loves traveling to Orlando, so I can't think of a better place to host our biggest event," AFL Commissioner Jerry B. Kurz said. "We anticipate the largest viewing audience our League has ever had, so we will put on as great a show as they have ever seen."
ArenaBowl XXVI will be the fourth AFL championship game played in Orlando and the first neutral site ArenaBowl in the city's history. This will be the second consecutive neutral site ArenaBowl and the sixth in the history of the League.
A weekend full of events surrounding ArenaBowl XXVI will include the ArenaBowl Gala on Thursday evening announcing the major award winners from the regular season, and a concert featuring a headline recording artist on Friday night. These and other events will lead up to the ArenaBowl, which is scheduled to kick off at 1 p.m. ET on Saturday.
Fans have been treated to something historic in each of the previous three ArenaBowls held in Orlando. The ArenaBowl first came to Orlando in 1992 when the Detroit Drive defeated the Orlando Predators, 56-38, in ArenaBowl VI to claim their fourth title in five seasons. Two years later, the city hosted the game again when the Arizona Rattlers celebrated their first championship in franchise history when quarterback Sherdrick Bonner connected with receiver Calvin Schexnayder for a game-winning 24-yard touchdown with 31 seconds left for a 36-31 victory over the Predators in ArenaBowl VIII. The hometown Predators came away with a win the last time the championship game was held in Orlando, defeating the Nashville Kats, 41-38, by kicking a field goal as time expired in ArenaBowl XIV.
