The
San Antonio Talons have partnered up with United Way for their
pre-season game on March 6. "The Talons are proud to donate our proceeds
to the United Way. It is a very worth while charity to be partnered
with," said Talon's owner David Lynd. "We hope San Antonio turns out in a
big way to support the San Antonio community and our hometown football
team!"
With
a 7:30pm kick off time, all seats will be available with a $5 general
admission ticket. All proceeds from every seat sold will go straight to
the United Way. On game day, fans can bring five cans of food to the
Food Bank donation station set up and trade them in for a ticket
voucher.
"In
celebration of the San Antonio community contributing over $50 million
this year to support children, families and emergency services across
Bexar County, United Way is pleased to partner with the Talons to say
thank you to the community." said Doug Yeiser, United Way's vice
president of strategic markets. "We rely on the generosity of people
throughout the community, and invite everyone to enjoy a night out with
friends and family," he said.
United
Way is one of the largest private investors in health and human
services programs in San Antonio and Bexar County. United Way brings
people together through the 2-1-1 Help Line, partner agency programs,
Eastside Promise Neighborhood initiatives, and other community work that
helps children, strengthens families and neighborhoods, and provides
emergency services to those in immediate need of food, clothing, shelter
and disaster services.
The
San Antonio Talons are entering into their second season in the Arena
Football League (AFL). The team was moved to San Antonio from Tulsa, OK
in 2012 and won the AFL's Central Division title, as well as hosted
their first AFL playoff game in the 2012 season.
