Families are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Cedar Valley Habitat for Humanity (CVHH) is a partnership of churches, businesses, individuals, organizations and families with limited resources that has a proven track record in addressing the need for affordable housing in the greater Cedar Rapids community. It is the local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI), an ecumenical Christian housing organization committed to eliminating the world's substandard housing. Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat builds and rehabilitates simple, decent homes alongside our homeowner (partner) families. Habitat is not a giveaway program. In addition to a down payment and monthly mortgage payments, homeowners invest hundreds of hours of their own labor (sweat equity) into building their Habitat home and the homes of others. Habitat homes are sold to partner families at no profit and financed with affordable zero-interest loans. Since Cedar Valley Habitat's founding in 1988, the organization has built or fully rehabilitated more than 100 homes in partnership with qualified families in need.
