The
Salina Bombers earned their first CPIFL Player of the Week award as the
Champions Professional Indoor Football League announces its award
winners for Week 8. Also recognized are a player from the Bloomington
Edge for the second consecutive week and a busy kicker from Wichita.
Offensive Player of the Week: Dane Simoneau, Salina Bombers
Simoneau
and the Bombers (4-2) vaulted into a tie for third place in the CPIFL
with the Bombers 47-31 victory over Kansas City. Simoneau was 13-of-19
passing for 195 yards and five touchdowns. Simoneau is averaging 164.8
passing yards per game which is second in the league. His 19 touchdown
passes ranks third. Salina travels to Topeka, KS to take on the Kansas
Koyotes in Week 9.
Defensive Player of the Week: Ross Cochran, Bloomington Edge
Cochran
led the Bloomington (4-3) defense with 13 tackles in the first shutout
in CPIFL history as the Edge defeated the Kansas Koyotes by a score of
48-0. Cochran holds the league record for most tackles in a single game
as he recorded 15 tackles vs. Mid-Missouri in Week 3. Cochran added
1.5 sacks in the victory over Kansas. Cochran is averaging 9.6 tackles
per game which leads the league. Bloomington will be looking for their
third victory in a row as the Edge travel to Lincoln to take on the
Haymakers on Friday night.
Special Teams Player of the Week: Alex Fambrough, Wichita Wild
Fambrough
was nearly perfect in a busy night for the Wild kicker. Fambrough was
10-of-11 in PAT’s setting a new CPIFL record for most PAT’s in a game.
Fambrough was also 2-for-2 in field goals on the night. Fambrough
leads the league with 41 PAT’s made this season. The 7-1 Wild host
Oklahoma on Saturday night.
Week
9 of the CPIFL season kicks-off with Bloomington travelling to Lincoln
on Friday night. On Saturday, Wichita hosts Oklahoma, Salina visits
Kansas, and Sioux City visits Kansas City. The week wraps up on Sunday
with Omaha hosting Mid-Missouri.
