Barnstormers Training Camp Headed Back to Oskaloosa
Iowa Barnstormers General Manager John Pettit along with Head Coach and Director of Football Operations Mike Hohensee unveiled detailed plans today regarding the team's 2013 training camp. For the second straight season, the Barnstormers will be holding their 2 week training camp about an hour south of Des Moines in Oskaloosa, Iowa. All team practices will be held on the campus of William Penn University at the state of the art Penn Activities Center. Training Camp officially opens this Saturday, March 2 when 35 players from around the country will attempt to land a spot on the Barnstormers 2013 roster.
In addition to practices, the Barnstormers will be involved in many community events throughout the Oskaloosa area ranging from meet and greet dinners to visits at local schools and hospitals. The first major community event will take place on Sunday March 3rd when the Oskaloosa Chamber of Commerce will hold a kickoff party at the Penn Central Mall. The event will be held in the Center Courtyard area and begins at 5:00pm and is open to the public. Barnstormers players, coaches and members of the dance team will be on hand from 5:30-6:30 to meet and greet fans and sign autographs.
A year ago, the Barnstormers were seeking a place to hold their training camp. When members of the William Penn Staff along with town officials heard the news, it became a very easy decision. "We felt that it was very important to create an atmosphere where our player s could bond quickly as a team. Taking our camp on the road to Oskaloosa allowed us to accomplish just that. The facilities at William Penn are top notch and the community support was outstanding. Coming back for year number two was the easiest decision we ever made." Stated Hohensee
Practices will take place daily and are open to the general public and all media. The team will hold an inter-squad scrimmage on Friday, March 8 at 8:00am. A complete schedule of practices dates and times is listed below. A full training camp roster will be released later this week, prior to the first team practice on Saturday.

The San Jose SaberCats announced that they have been assigned 2012 Arena Football League Hall of Fame selection and SaberCats legend, defensive back Clevan Thomas on a two-year contract.
"Being able to add a game-changer like Clevan is huge for us heading into this season," said Owner/Head Coach Darren Arbet. "He is the best defensive player I have ever had the pleasure of coaching and mixing him in with our very talented secondary is something we are very excited about."
Thomas (5-10, 195, Florida State), a five-time All-Arena selection, 2002 Rookie of the Year and two-time Defensive Player of the Year (2002-03) will soon join former teammates Barry Wagner, Sam Hernandez and SaberCats Owner/Head Coach Darren Arbet in the AFL Hall of Fame.

Lesué to Compete in Dancing with the Salt Lake Stars

Lesué is one of several local celebrities that will perform a routine live on stage tomorrow at the Sheraton in downtown Salt Lake City. Over the past four weeks, he has been as been perfecting his moves with the help of talented dance professional Laura Payne Juarez.
"It seemed like a lot of work at first, but it has actually picked up recently," Lesué stated. "Just like football, it comes with a ton of repetition. It's hard because if you mess up one step, you throw off the whole routine."
"Because Aaron is an athlete, he has great coordination and has picked up the choreography quickly," said Juarez. "I didn't go easy on him with the footwork or tricks and he's really come through. He's going to surprise everyone, and I would love to see him win this competition!"

Nebraska Danger Set for IFL Opener against Defending Champion Storm
The 2013 IFL season begins this Saturday, March 2 for the Nebraska Danger as they host defending league champion Sioux Falls. The Storm will bring a 1-0 record to the Heartland Events Center as they defeated the Green Bay Blizzard 64-41 in their season opening contest.
The Danger defeated the Lincoln Haymakers 56-21 last week in an exhibition game with the team from the CPIFL. After a slow start, head coach Mike Davis liked what he saw from his team.
"We didn't have a great start, so that's a concern," Davis said. "But, I thought our guys came together and played pretty well in the second half. That said, the way we played, we are a long way off from beating a team with the resume of Sioux Falls. It will take our best effort on Saturday night."
In the win against the Haymakers, the Danger did most of the work on the ground. They ran 23 times for 68 yards, with newcomer Randy Bell leading the way with 50 yards on five carries and a touchdown. He'll join Daniel Libre in the backfield for the first game of the season.
Davis' defense will be relied on heavily on Saturday as the Storm bring a potent offense to Grand Island led by quarterback Martavious Young. Young, who played at Southern Miss, was named IFL offensive player-of-the-week for his efforts against Green Bay. He threw for 152 yards and three touchdowns and ran for another 101 yards on 18 carries and another score.
Storm linebacker Tyler Knight earned league defensive player-of-the-week honors after racking up 13 tackles and a sack in the Sioux Falls win. The Storm held the Blizzard to just 37 yards rushing in the victory.
Saturday's game is part of a full four-game IFL schedule for week two. In other action, Cedar Rapids will host the Texas Revolution and the Colorado Ice will host the Tri-Cities Fever on Friday night. Also on Saturday, the Chicago Slaughter will host Green Bay. Kickoff is set for 7 PM at the Heartland Events Center.
