Sioux City Bandits Announce More Veteran Signings and Coaching Staff

The Sioux City Bandits are excited to announce that three players have decided to return to the team and release the names of the coaching staff for the 2013 Champions Professional Indoor Football League (CPIFL) season.
Spetlar Tonga (LB-6'0 235 lbs) returns for what will be his 9th season with the Bandits. Last season, Tonga had a grand total of 56 tackles, making him 2nd defensive leader for the season. Tonga, as a career high, had 9 interceptions for 112 yards. For career high fumble returns, Tonga had 5, in which he returned for a total of 37 yards. Tonga ranks 1st overall in career tackles with 635 in his time with the Bandits from 2004 to 2008 and again from 2010 to 2012. Tonga is one of the most popular players to play for the Bandits.
Damon Mothershead (WR-6'0 190 lbs) returns for his 7th season with the Bandits after having 32 catches for 416 yards with 11 touchdowns last season. As a career high, Mothershead has a total of 175 pass receptions for 2191 yards as a Bandit from 2007 to 2012. With that being said, he is ranked 4th overall in all purpose yards with 2713. Mothershead also has a career grand total of 46 pass reception touchdowns.
Chase Colvin (WR-6'3 200 lbs) makes a return for what will mark his 3rd season as a Bandit. In his 9 games last season, Colvin had a total of 12 tackles. He also had 6 catches for 128 yards with 2 touchdowns. Colvin averaged 14.50 yards a catch in 22 catches for 319 yards in his career with the Bandits. He is a graduate of Briar Cliff University.
Erv Strohbeen returns for his 2nd year as Head Coach of the Bandits. In his inaugural season as Head Coach last year, he was 2-0 in the playoffs, winning the 2012 American Professional Football League title, and was 14-0 overall. For 3 years prior to becoming Head Coach, he had been an Assistant Coach for the offensive and defensive lines. Strohbeen retired as a Bandits player in 2009 as the leader of games played with 130.
Jarrod DeGeorgia returns as Offensive Coordinator for the 2013 season. In his time as a Bandits quarterback, DeGeorgia had 209 rushing attempts in 591 yards. DeGeorgia is also 2nd in Bandits career history in rushing touchdowns, in which he had 48. He is also the overall leader in pass attempts with 1389 and 752 completions for 8,615 yards and had 147 passing touchdowns.
John Zevenbergen returns as Defensive Coordinator for his 2nd season. Zevenbergen is one of the Bandit career defensive leaders, having played defensive back for 3 years. He ranks number 8 overall in total tackles for his career, with 206.
Keith Chapman is back as an Assistant Coach for his 2nd season. In 2012, Keith coordinated the Special Teams for the Bandits. Keith played for the Bandits in 2005.
The Sioux City Bandits Tryout Camps are being held on Saturday, Dec. 15 at the Long Lines Center and Sunday, Jan. 20th at the Tyson Events Center. The camp runs from 8 am to noon each day.
